We have one (goodness I can't even remember what brand) that we got when we were married. It's been trusty and works well enough for making our smoothies. But DG has officially stolen it and taken it to work, so we are looking to get one for the home.
I'd like one that is magical enough to deal with kale, spinach, maybe even carrots. One that will make beautiful smoothies. What do you use? Do you love it? What would you recommend?
We have a Kitchen Aid and it does pretty well. It's fairly new because we burned through the one that we got for our wedding, LOL.
My dad swears by his Vitamix. He loves that thing and it's so powerful! But it's also very pricey. I think it's around $400? I've seen it used commercially at smoothie and coffee places, that's how hardcore it is.
yeah... we have a VitaMix and it's hardcore... I don't have to use much liquid to make a smoothie which I totally love... I actually got rid of my Ice Cream Maker because I can make Ice Cream in seconds with the VitaMix... and I love that I can make and heat soup in just a few minutes... like the VitaMix actually heats it up from the horsepowers... the best deal is at Costco when they have their road shows... and even then it's still I think $250... but totally worth it considering I was able to get rid of my bread machine and ice cream machine and my old worn out blender and food processor... it's like an all in one machine LOL
It's actually pretty ugly and I hide it in my cabinets LOL... but I use it at least once a day and I've had friends say they can grind up an avocado seed, with is high in nutrients, in their smoothies with it no problem... there is another brand that is a bit prettier and according to reviews a bit louder that is as high powered as the VitaMix and I think it's almost as expensive too... but the VitaMix is made in the USA which was part of the reason I chose that one... not to mention being able to get rid of so many of my machines and make more room LOL
I just recently asked for recommendations, Vitamix and Blendec are way out of my budget. I got several suggestions for higher end Osters and Ninjas. My mom has a Ninja so I asked her to bring it when she came for a visit so I could try it out. I tore that thing up, made several batches of smoothies, enchilada sauce and hummus. Then I ordered one for myself
We also have a Vitamix that I bought earlier this year from the Costco roadshow. It is a pretty handy little thing and gets almost daily use in this house. You can throw a bunch of fresh and frozen fruit in it and a little water and it makes amazing smoothies. No fillers needed. My hubby loves making Protein smoothies and puts whey and a bunch of stuff in it. I haven't tried it for soup yet but I did buy some seasonings during the roadshow specifically for soup. I love that it heats the soup up itself and then you can add veggies and/or beans into the broth that you make after the soup is mixed.
I'm a fan! It does stay on our countertop and it's super ugly. But we use it so often it's too much of a pain to put away.
In theory, I would love a Vitamix. In reality, I don't think I can bring myself to spend $500 on a blender. LOL I really do need a new one though since my kids and I are so into green smoothies right now. My kitchen aid food processor doesn't get it quite smooth enough.
magic bullet. awesome. makes just about anything and it's contrary to others because you can drink out of the cup you made everything in. i never will use another. oh, and the kids can make their own.
