So I am in the process of potty training Sophie (2 1/2). I wasn't pushing hard, just trying to get her used to the idea. She doesnt love it, and is not really on board with the whole potty thing. She keeps telling me she doesnt want to. I thought she is just not ready. But, I have her wearing pull ups and am trying to get her to sit on it a few times a day.

Well, after what just happend this afternoon, I now know that she is playing me. I caught her changing her own diaper. She even got a wipe and wiped, put the new diaper on, put the dirty diaper in the diaper genie, put her pants back on, everything. :D

So if she is old enough to change her own diaper, don't you think she is old enough to be potty trained? :think

LOL

number one: wow
number two: yes, she should be old enough to be potty trained
number three: double wow, that is to funny!

That's so funny! And I thought my kids were cheeky!

I've had a few weeks of my little one being a pain with the potty training. She's perfectly capable of it, but waits and waits and waits and ... oops! She seems to have cracked it this week though.

that's funny :) I just bought pull ups for my little guy too - he totally knows when he's going but will only sit on the pottie for about 20 seconds and says "it's not coming" LOL It took me a year to train my oldest - he figured it out right around his 3rd birthday. I've heard girls are faster

Lol that is too funny Amy. Owen was a tricky one to train but I think a big part of it was I didn't really try that hard with him and got lazy with it (oops) but once he got it he was honestly day and night trained at the same time. It took about a year for me to get him trained (again we were lazy with it or I was since Jeff was no help) and I don't know what clicked for him (I tried treats, bribes, trips to Chuck E Cheese and such. I didn't try the cheerio trick cause my kid would try to eat them lol) so I can't help there but maybe do one of those weekend long things (I forget the name) where you do nothing but focus on getting her to potty in the potty?

lol amy thats really cute... i have the same problem here with karim... he is nearly 2 1/2 and each time i put him on the toilet he sits for 30 sec and he tells me i`m finished or he starts pulling off the toilet paper or things like this...
they should be ready to be trained now... the age is fine i think...
but i`m really at a loss too how i`ll get this little guy out of his diapers *sigh*

LOL! that is definitely a classic!

yup, i'd have to say potty training is NOT my fave... cuz it's all about the power struggle... which apparently your daughter has figured out! :giggle

best of luck with that one! :)
