I have seen this on FB several times over the last few days

I'm not quite as bad as all that, but I do need 2 pillows, pitch black, door open (closet door closed), and silence to be able to fall asleep. Oh, and neat straight bedding. DH is pretty much opposite. He leaves lights on, gets in a crumpled up bed, and has to have a movie or book playing on his phone when he goes to bed. That means either I have to go to bed before he does and be asleep, or wait until he's asleep so I can turn everything off.

Do you have to have things a certain way before you go to sleep? Or can you just lay down and go to sleep?

DH is like the husband above, except that we both need our white noise machine on now, since he started using a C-pap. Yes, he falls asleep before his head hits the pillow even wearing all that C-pap gear! We're both okay with doors open and a night light on in the bathroom. I have to keep reading until I'm dropping my Kindle. Then I get up for one more potty stop, come back to bed for a sip of ice water I have in the thermos next to the bed, readjust the pillows (2 for my head and 3 little deco pillows I use to support my elbow and Kindle while reading), arrange the sheets/comforter, then pick up Kindle, knowing that one more page will do the trick. Unless I have a kid-worry on my mind. If so, I pray for said kid/s until I fall asleep. In the summer, despite having the AC set for night time, we have a ceiling fan going. If none of this works, I'll just get up and go do some digital art.

No. I am not a bedtime princess. I'm not! I'm NOT!!!!!

My problems sleeping were (mostly) resolved with my spinal cord stimulator surgery. Being able to sleep is a blessing! I still have nights (and days) where I'm miserable, but overall, I don't find it hard to go to sleep.

We also bought a split king adjustable bed with a massage feature. I can get in the absolute perfect position for me (which is usually cradled like a V shape) and hubby usually lays flat. So in that position he doesn't really see me or me him. He's the one that's had the adjustment to make as I was sleeping in the recliner for a long time and he had the bedroom to himself (THAT was terrible). Anyway, he's grown accustomed to my noise (raising or lowering the bed, turning on and off my stimulator charger) as well as my light from my phone or my book light or Kindle.

I fall asleep very easily, unless I'm worried - and lately, worried I have been. I've been coloring in an app on my phone, and that gets me super relaxed and in a meditative state so I can go to sleep!

I need the sheets flat and uncrumpled too. I need it dark, and quiet. I have to wake to the children's equipment alarms so I wake at the slightest sound and can't sleep if it's noisy.

I've always said my DH could fall asleep on a rock. I need white noise, my fan, my music in my airpods and then hopefully, I can finally fall asleep.

...oh, and a couple MORE things...my hair is nearly shoulder-length now, so I have to pull it up into a bungie cord on top of my head so i don't smother myself in the night! ...and if I have been cold all evening, the mattress pad cover needs to be turned on...then of course, turned off before I go to sleep so I don't wake up dripping in my own sweat!

But really, I AM NOT A BED TIME PRINCESS!

Mine is SO long too - I put it in a VERY loose bun at the nape of my neck - you might try that.

That's pretty much me though quiet is not a guarantee as we are in a small city so every ambulance/police car races one house away from us. I don't need white noise but dh does. That amazed me cause his snoring was so bad you cold hear it a room away. Then we has a period of pre my knee surgery when I ended up in the other room just so I could sleep despite the knee pain. Then he had some physical issue pre cancer and we each got a double bed and a room of our own. He is a 8:30 to bed and 5am up person and I'm a 10pm or so to bed and awake at 5am after hearing him go up and down the stairs...our old house leaves nothing to be private with these paper thin walls. But I go back to sleep til 7am at least.

He needs two blankets, one electric; I have a down duvet year round. I move all over my bed and he stays in ONE spot all night in his. Space has saved this marriage.

Dark, quiet, no fans, no other noise. Hubby either stays up late or falls asleep on the couch, so I use that time to stretch out over the entire bed. Right now we still have the fleece sheets on the bed. But once the AC comes on, I need my cotton sheets. I usually wash them twice a week as I like clean sheets. I also like it cold so I can have the weight of the comforter on me year around. And I diffuse RC, an eucalyptus, spruce, and cypress blend.

:giggle:giggle I am the same with the reading and such, so I tend to go up to bed well before DH. Also with praying for the kids until I fall asleep. AND I do turn on the electric blanket before I go to bed so it's warm when I get in, but off before I go to sleep or yep, I'll be in a puddle lol

I'm so glad that you are no longer sleeping in a recliner and that you're able to get rest! I have a good friend that swears by her coloring app as well. It was actually recommended to her when she was recovering from a brain injury.

^^ this is so me! I need this isolation to be over so hubby can go back on his business trips. He snores and wakes me up every time he moves!
Yes! My DH also snores and it drives me crazy. The one thing I really hate is being woken up in the middle of the night...I cannot get back to sleep!

Same here. Not the equipment alarms, but I cannot sleep if it's noisy and I have this need to hear all the sounds in the house, just in case.

I used to need noise, music, fans, etc, but anymore I need to be able to hear what's going on in the house. I think it comes from the time when my oldest tried sneaking out at night, so I needed to be able to hear any door or window lol.

I have thought about the space thing...often! I am seriously considering at least separate bedding. He drives me insane with his tossing and turning and messing up the covers. I can get out of bed in the morning and it almost looks like no one even slept there. Our house is super noisy, too. The floor and stairs creak so badly!

I like to read for ten to fifteen minutes before I turn out the light, then have the room dark with the humidifier going, the sheets need to be neat and my memory foam pillow is a must.

My hubby usually stays up late as well, unless he has to get up super early for work, so I take full advantage of having the bed to myself lol. I like the bedroom cold as well, because I cannot sleep without the comforter on me!

That's about how long I read or whatever before I turn out the light. Yes! The sheets have to be neat! I had a memory foam pillow years ago. Not sure what happened to it, but I must not have been that attached to it lol.

LoL to me reading this thread , because it is 1.30 in the night here, and I am still awake checking the forum... My Hubby went up to bed at around 11. Late for him these days normally it is about 10. He reads a few pages then sleeps like a log until about 7.30 /8.00.
Tonight it is also late for me,but even normally I don't go to bed before midnight, because I can only stay asleep for about 6 hours, and I refuse to wake up before 6. We can both sleep through storms and traffic noise, but even small noises inside the house wakes me up. I have no rituals, just always a glass of water on the bedside table.
