As long as I've remembered I've always had acne which really sucks at 30. For the last year or so I've been using Proactiv and it's been pretty good at controlling it but I'm finding it harsh on my skin. I have combo skin that is a little sensitive. I want to stop using Proactiv but I'm a little afraid... does anyone have any recommendations as to what they use or have you heard any good things about other products?

I just vanquished an amazing second chin zit (as my dd so lovingly called it) with melaleuca oil. I was stunned. It was gone in a day and a half with me putting it on every time I walked into the bathroom. Amazing. You can get the oil at any health food store. Mine was doTerra's. :)

There's a gal that's local to me who has an amazing skin care product line. . . her website is really user friendly too! Crystal Skin Care

I was having breakouts again. . . and after going thru it in puberty, who wants to again?!? I use her Purely Buffed scrub once or twice a week and I also like her Quietly Clean Cleanser for all skin types.

I started getting microdermabrasion and chemical peels to help me clear up my face. I'm really happy with the results and feel like it helped to restore my skin and help reduce all those fine lines that are now appearing!

I used Proactiv for years, and recently switched to the Philosophy acne care line. I started using it in December, so it's been about 6 weeks. I think it's better for me than Proactiv was. I haven't broken out nearly as much, and it comes with a Retinol one that has been fading some of the scars I had. Love that.

I still can't wear makeup, though, or i break out again. Even the Proactiv foundation breaks me out. Grr.

Renee, I've been going through the same thing. ProActiv was so harsh on my skin that I stopped it. But now the acne is back (and it's the cystic kind... Not just your regular zit that you can get rid of in a few days) and they LOVE to scar. Very frustrating! They need something that helps with acne, aging, and has the SPF in it. :waiting

Have you tried washing your face with baking soda? That is what I do. I just wet my face, make a thin paste, and then massage it in everywhere except around my eyes. It is super cheap and works great. I love the stuff. :)

I know exactly what you mean! I get waaaayyy more cystic type acne and it's driving me bonkers. It hurts and takes forever to heal...

i used proactiv for 6 months then quit.
i had 6 chem peels and my derm gave me retin a (is that what it's called? LOL)
HQRA 10% it's amazing!!!
i also use
Dermologica Exfoliant........ LOVE LOVE!!!!!!!!!
that's it. i don't even really use any facial cleansers or anything. LOL
just eye make up remover then the exfoliant then the retin a at night.
then just a quick wash when i shower in the morning.
i do still get an occasional pimple....(during that time of the month) CURSES..
but they are manageable.

Yep I get the cystic ones, too. So painful. Haven't had one in a while, though. WHEW!
