Since we're talking books ...

I think I'm going to ask for a Kindle for my birthday, and I must stock it! Give me your must have reads!

Not really an answer to your question, but I just had to say that I got a Kindle last Thursday and I loooooove mine :wub

Yay! I'm glad to hear that - I'm a huge reader, and I'm nervous about "giving up" books!

Julie, I'm a book addict and I totally felt the same way but I've had mine 6 months and I adore it. The only thing I miss is being able to pass books on to friends after I finish them.

Before I hit you with my big list of must-haves...do you want classics, fiction, non-fiction, etc? Give me some parameters. hahaha

You have to read the Sookie Stackhouse series

Also The Help by Kathryn Stockett
Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger
Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen
The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown was pretty good, too.

I'm definitely more of a fiction reader - Jodi Picoult, Dan Brown, David Baldacci, Kristin Hannah, John Grisham. I loved the Twilight and Left Behind series, I can do some Stephen King (I want Under the Dome). Semi-sci-fi is okay, but not too out there (Dean Koontz is a little weird for me). I read The Lovely Bones years ago when it first came out and loved it. My all-time favorite book is The Thorn Birds (weird, I know). I really do like just about anything

Okay, explain to me Sookie Stackhouse. Because I read the blurbs on Amazon and just wasn't getting it.

Time Traveler's Wife is on my list in my head. Water for Elephants is a maybe. And I have The Lost Symbol in book form, so I'll probably read it that way.

If you like The Thorn Birds, have you read the Diana Gabaldon Outlander series? It's a FUN read and could keep you busy for a long while.

That's on my list based on recommendations, but again, I'm not really getting it from the outtakes. So I might just have to give it a shot.

love David Baldacci. i just finished rereading Diana Galbadon but i always get burned out on the concept by about the 2 or 3rd books in that series for some reason.

If you like Baldacci and Dan Brown, you might like Brad Meltzer. Have you read anything by him?

Got my Kindle last week and it totally will change the way you think about books. It's AWESOME!!! :)

We have the same reading taste! Lovely Bones was such a good book.

Sookie Stackhouse series are the books that True Blood on HBO are based on, but they are actually very different from the tv show. They can actually be pretty funny at times. I love everything by Charlaine Harris though and my favorite series of hers was the Aurora Teagarden series.

Other authors I love, love: Marian Keyes, Emily Griffin, If you ever read any Anne Rice, The Witching Hour is one of my all time favorites.

A cute book I read recently: Holly's Inbox. I like easy, fun reads lately. I go through different phases. LOL

i have the sony version and love it i was gonna say look on ebay but maybe i shouldnt, ill just shut up and slip out of this thread lol

I put a load of chick lit on mine, amongst other stuff think i got enough on there to last a few years lol,it certainly has decluttered our house, actually it hasnt all the books are in carrier bags waiting to go to the charity shop

Love Anne Rice and Witching Hour is definitely one of my faves. I should really read that one again since it has been forever since I read it last.

I loved the Sookie books too. They are quick, easy and entertaining. But I am having a really hard time enjoying the TV show. They added plots and accents are really annoying! I just finished the Harper Connely books by her to, they were ok. I wasn't sure about reading any more of her series, but maybe I should at least pick up Aurora Teagarden, eh??

Julie have you seen the new Ipad's just like the ipod or iphone but huge LOL You can get the kindle app which is free and read the book on that... That way you have a lot of other options for using it that just reading books. That's what I would do. I have an iphone and have the kindle app on it and i love reading books on it. LOL
