Hi Ladies. I am a pretty new digi scrapper and I have what is probably a silly question. I am trying to do my PL layout from last week. I want to have my photos printed at the photo store and I want to print my journaling cards myself. I decided to make my layout digital so I could see how everything will look once printed. I made a 12x24 template to lay everything out. I have my photos sized on the template how I want them to be printed. I created 3x4 and 4x6 boxes and created a clipping mask. Now how do I save just each photo/collage individually so I can put them on a thumb drive to be printed at the store? They have to be 4x6 of course. I can't seem to wrap my mind around how to do this. There has to be an easy way to just save one part of a layout without the other elements or background. I don't know why I can't figure this out. Thanks so much for your help! -Roni

I don't know PSE, but if I'm understanding your question right, here's what I would do in PS.

  • control+click on the clipping mask layer thumbnail to get the marching ants for that shape
  • Edit > Copy Merged
  • make a new 4x6 file with matching resolution
  • paste into the new file and save as jpg

Hope that helps!

Thanks Kim. Photoshop acted up on me and I lost what I was working on so I made each element individually. Then I added them to the layout to see if they looked ok. If necessary I would go back and change the individual card or photo. It's funny when I had a 7 year old computer with Windows Xp I never had issues with Elements 9. Now I have a brand new HP with windows 7 and constantly have issues with Elements!

Roni, I think in the future the easiest thing would be to:

1) make a 12x24 file for your layout
2) make a new file for each individual layout. when you make it new, make it the size that you want it to be in the end. OR open your photo you want to use, and crop it to the size you want it to be (i.e crop to 4x6, etc). Save each individual photo or file that you want to print.
3) Then you can drop each picture / journaling card onto your 12x24 layout and rearrange them until you find the way you want it to look... but that way you still have each photo / journaling card already saved separately for easier printing.

Does this help? Make sense? It's early, and I'm not entirely sure my brain is working yet. :)

That is what I ended up doing Rebecca. I was thinking there might becanother way but that is what seems easiest. Thank you so much!
