I often come up with some of my best ideas in the shower and never knew exactly why until I read this article.

So inquiring minds want to know, do you get great ideas in the shower too?

What, me? Easily distracted! haha!

For me its when I'm trying to go to sleep. It takes me about hour or so to get to sleep, so everything runs through my head at that time. Everything.

I wish I could get inspiration when I'm trying to get to sleep. I think at night I'm too worked up and my brain is overwhelmed with everything that it can't be as creative.

Ha ha... in the shower, I re-live conversations, meetings, or arguments, lol! Or I have random thoughts... aka shower thoughts. There is a forum on Reddit called this, and it always make me giggle. One recent funny one was: Reckless driving is bad, wreckless driving is not.

At night, I read until I'm ready to fall asleep almost by dropping my phone on my face (I don't though, lol)... otherwise, my mind will swirl with random thoughts - "Why do washing machines have separate compartments for bleach and soap?" or "What if we combined mosquitos and lightning bugs? Then we would be able to get them before they get us." or "Who named colors?" Ugh...

:giggle

My best ideas actually come when I'm multi-tasking. It's like my brain says "Hey, let's toss another thing in there!" I'm strange, I know.

Yes... I would say the same. When I'm doing something entirely different... pop... light bulb moment!

Yeah, I seem to have good ideas when I'm trying to wind down in bed. Maybe they're not good ideas, though, but seem good? Anyway, I tend to go over my day in the shower. Maybe instead I need to start thinking big thoughts while washing my hair!

Have any of you ever had nitrous gas at the dentist? I have written the Great American Novel during those sessions. I can't remember a thing afterward, though. :giggle:giggle

It seems like I always remember all the things I need to do or check on while I'm in the shower, but by the time I get out of the bathroom, I've forgotten them all again :giggle

This is me exactly. In fact I can't count how many times I've thought of something I NEED to add to my grocery list and by the time I've gotten out, I've forgotten. I think I need a waterproof white board in my shower or something. :giggle

I'm in the 'when I'm trying to go to sleep catagory'... My creative mind is turned ON when I try to relax. I get ideas for scrapping, for DIY'ing, for arranging furniture and gallery walls. Sheesh... It's exhausting. Oh, and when I'm thinking about journaling for a layout... I come up with awesomeness... then I forget! Even if I get up out of bed to write it down... for cryin' out loud... :)

YES!
My kids know when I come out of the bedroom wrapped in towel. Mom either remembered something, or has an idea! Hilarious! I love showers for that reason. Like I am relaxed and my brain goes into defrag.

When I was still working, I took my showers in the evening. Quite often the answer to a problem at work would come to me during the shower. If I hurried up, I could email myself at work with the solution for the next day!

And, many times I would solve a problem at work in my dreams... unfortunately, I usually didn't remember it by the time I got to work!

Now that I am retired, I don't have the thoughts going through my head before going to sleep like I used to. Once in awhile it will happen if something important is going on the next day like a doctor's appointment where I keep thinking about questions to ask them.

I don't know that the ideas are always great, but yes, this is so true for me and my husband that I've joked about stitching "Thinking Room," framing it and hanging it above the shower.
