When my son was born we decided Santa would only bring one gift, a hardbound book, with the goal of the kids having their very own classic novel library by the time they are ready to move out on their own. Santa always writes a note in the front cover about why the book is special and all the things that Santa appreciated about that kid for the last year.
The only problem is JT now wonders why Santa brings other kids xboxes, LOL! Oh well, he's 8 and hasn't given Santa up yet completely, that's good, haha. He loves guessing what book he's gonna get and we all enjoy reading it aloud, finishing it by Spring usually. Lulu is starting to catch on as well. I'm having fun finding books for girls now too!
Then we get the kids jammies and one inexpensive present.
My Mom makes green chili for Xmas Eve, my favorite dinner in the world, and we open all the presents except Santa's that night. After presents we go to Midnight Mass with my Mom. Xmas day is usually spent with my InLaws opening their presents, this is where the kids, and me (wink, new iMac this year!) get spoiled. My MIL is CRAZY about xmas, I think she must spend a small fortune every year. But she makes Duck and Lamb for dinner and I'd rather have my Mom's green chili, haha.
