Theme Challenge: She's My Hero
deadline:
October 21st

One winner, randomly chosen, will win a $5 gift certificate to the M3 Shop.
For the longest time, I didn't think I liked women. Most of that idea came from my mom, who really never was able to get along with other women. Then in my early 20s, I wanted to be a therapist so I started volunteering/working with a group of women who were mentally ill and chemically addicted. It was such a strong group, and I was humbled by everything they went through on a regular basis. Even though I didn't know them all that well, I ended up feeling close to some of those women, and it definitely changed my attitude. After that, and throughout my adult years, I've come across so many amazing women who inspired me, whether they were friends, teachers, public people, or family members. There are so many powerful women for inspiration... including some of those here at the Pad!! So looking at this week's kit, here is my idea for this challenge.

Challenge:

Create a page that celebrates a woman you've admired at some point in your life. It could be a friend, family member, public persona... or even yourself. Pick one or two things about her that inspires you and makes you want to be like her. This month's kit has a lot of great material for this type of page. Use journaling, symbols and/or word art to get those qualities documented and share the love for your hero/inspiration.

Have fun. I'm excited to see who has made some impact in your life!

I am just in awe of this challenge and want to really put my heart into it..thank you Kimberlee!

This page may look simple but was extremely hard for me. Kathleen lost her battle with cancer after a hard fight a few years ago. I have also lost touch with Konnie, who was much older than me and I am old... I owe so much of the confidence I have in who I am to these women. I could never repay what they have given me. I can only hope I can pay it forward.

this past month has been torment to a momma's heart (heck my hubby's heart has broke so many times)
teen pregnancy, drugs and alcohol with my son, pure rebellion and lies from another son. Thru it all my daughter Abby, has stood firm in righteousness and love. She has been a beacon of the hope of Jesus Christ. Not a waver. I am in awe of her and she is my hero.

I don't know why your post made me cry. How beautiful to have this tribute from your mom. You could make it into a canvas for her or frame it. She'll treasure it always.

When I made this page I was thinking how great my mum was traveling around the world to where we were living when my then 3 year old son suffered a serious medical event which left him disabled.

MY GRANDMOTHER, WITH EXCERPTS FROM HER COMMONPLACE BOOK

For an M3 challenge at The Lilypad: Hero. Elements from Lynne-Marie (FirmFoundations04, M3Aug14), Little Butterfly Wings (M3Feb15, M3Jul15), Nancie Rowe Janitz (M3May16), Paula Kesselring (Getting Older), Amy Wolff (Jump for Joy, May WP Messy Edges, Messy Edges), and Sissy Sparrows ((M3).

A little less art journal style but I had to use Follow Your Arrow because it described my Grandma so well. Loved it with the art journal elements and paper though.
