If you have the new version of the Canon Selphy printer (the one that's around $100), will you let me know how you like it.

I've been printing my project life stuff at Wal-Mart, and I hate how dark and over-contrasty they make my images work.

I've been printing at walmart and I hate it too... I've been looking at the canon slephy and I've been hearing real positive feedback. Hoping to get one soon.

I just got one about a week and a half ago....I love the quality and love that I have more control over my prints than I do when I send them to a local processor. I ordered some prints from Costco just before Christmas for a little 4x6 desk calendar for my mom with the instructions clicked that they were to make no adjustments. Each of the backgrounds were the same in my copy but came back drastically different when I picked them up (some with great color and awesome texture...some almost so washed out they looked white and flat). When this happened I decided I would be either sending out to an actual photo processor or doing them at home. So glad I bought it. It's an awesome little photo printer.

I print my photos at home (not a Selphy though, I have a Canon Pixma MP620). But when I get behind or have a bunch of photos to print, I send them to Costco. Costco photo online has an option to check so that they don't do any adjustments to your photos. I always check that option. Costco also lets you crop your non-4x6 photos how you want them cropped into 4x6. This isn't always the case... I printed some photos at Snapfish last year and they just willy-nilly cut off heads in photos when it's not originally a 4x6 aspect ratio (like from a non-DSLR camera). So beware. (Sorry to hijack your Selphy thread!)

When I was a paper scrapper I used to print at home with a Selphy. This was about 3 years ago that I got it so it was an older model but I LOVED it. Eventually I started sending my pics out to an online service because I liked the different size options and the matte finish, but for quick prints at home the Selphy was awesome.

I have the newest model and love it! Seriously LOVE it! This project wouldn´t work for me without it, it prints my photos very well and it´s always ready do get some work done. This was definitely my best investion project life wise!
You can hop on over on my blog and look at the pages, every single photo is printed with the Selphy!

I really didn't want to buy a printer for this project but I just might have too. I have been using Shutterfly and picking up at Target/CVS. My Target is having printer issues and I haven't been able to pick up my last two orders. But I do like the prints when I get them. I switched to CVS and there prints are terrible. Very washed out. I am hoping Target gets there act together soon. I really don't want another printer to clog up my space. I need to also try hooking up my Canon Pixma and see how the prints turn out...

i have been stalking the selphy on amazon for quite a while. i haven't tried printing on my canon pixma in a LONG time, so i think i'll try that first. if that doesn't work, i may be buying a selphy too. i'm already falling behind on my PL because i haven't had time to sit down and do up a bulk order of photo prints.

i printed via snapfish and picked up at meijer for week one. i was less than impressed with the quality of the prints. some were great. some were very blurry/fuzzy.

I just got mine (I think it's the CP-800?)...it was less than $90 on Amazon. I printed about 6 photos...ones that I had put together with Lili's photo collage templates. The only thing is that it's cropping them a bit, but I have these done on a 4x6 template. I'll have to read the manual to see if there is something I can do about it. I adore it though...so cute and so easy to use. I am still doing mine digi though for now until I get plastic pages and some extras for my pages (smash products!).

Debra - In the Print Setup, try playing with the "Extension" slider. Most default printer setup is set for maximum extension! There was four levels of image extension on my slider and when I changed it to level 2 instead of level 4 (max), my photo prints came out almost perfect on a 4x6 without extension. See if you have this in your print set-up!

ETA: when I print journal cards I set it to minimum extension (left-most on the slider) and they come out almost the exact same size as the intended size digitally, without extension. This has eliminated some major frustration for me as far as the printed journal cards fitting into the 3x4 pockets in my PL album.

I'll have to see Christine...thanks. I didn't print from my computer...I put the photos onto a flash drive and used that, so I'll have to see if there is something on the printer itself that will allow me to do this!

There's not that I can find....the settings on the Canon Selphy seem really really basic. What I did was create a 4"x6" canvas in my scrapbooking program and then created a rectangle shape a bit smaller....you can actually see what the Selphy will print on your computer so I just kept resizing until I got a size that printed what I saw (not sure if this makes sense or not) and then saved this shape and 4"x6" canvas as a PL template (I did one vertical and one horizontal). I just make sure that the area I want to see printed is inside that rectangle. I use the same template for 4"x3" photos as well...just find the center and place one to either side.

Just because I'm sure what I said in my previous post didn't make sense here's a visual. The tan part is the 4"x6" canvas and the black rectangle is the part that will actual print on the Selphy.

I was thinking I was going to have to tweak it a bit Sarah...that's very helpful...thanks!

How does this compare to the Epson PictureMate? Anyone know? I have that dusty ole thing downstairs that I haven't used in years. I did love it at the time (when I was paper scrapping), I just haven't had much use for it since going digital.

I have the Selphy and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!!!
I find that if I print from my dslr camera pictures they turn out preety spot on for color
BUT If I print instagram pictures I do lighten them a bit, they print to dark IMO. :)

Several of my online digi friends and I bought the Epson Charm to do Project Life this year. We all really like this cute little printer!

Does anybody have longer experiences with the Selphy? How do the photos look after some years? Do they bleach out?
Any problems in combination with the plastics of the page protectors?
