So I know at least Lorry has mentioned before about some form of her daughter scrapping with her. (Hopefully she will chime in here ;) :giggle)

Do any of you incorporate your children into this activity, other than scrapping about them? I'm thinking about making this a thing for my daughter to do with me. Maybe get her some supplies of her very own for Christmas (printing my TLP digi stash, duh! ;) )

Thoughts, stories, experiences?

I have on occasion. They usually direct me where to put things and choose patterns, elements and we talk about the journaling. My oldest has used Photoshop, worked a little with the layers and I hope will try more with him so he can learn a little more of the software too!

When Shayne worked on my Christmas cards one year, I left for a few minutes, and he was moving elements and working with foliage an flowers. He proceeded to place the biggest flower on his brothers face, added the greenery, shadowed it (easy with Layer Styles, and mine are named for elements), and then he declared it perfect when I came back!

I think they are both better picture "participants" since they see me scrap so often. They are interested, and LOVE flipping through the books. They also show an interest in taking the photos for me to scrap which I love too!

With a recent page of mine (soccer one), we journaled from a different perspective and that was perfect for him to talk to me about his game, thoughts, team, and everything. He loved how it turned out! It made me feel super special.

My daughter does her own 6x8 PL. We choose photos and cards together (I use the MPM collections for this). I do most of the designing the pages but she types in her own journaling and places the cards in the pockets.

My daughter (11) enjoys scrapping. She has some paper supplies and does that on her own. But she is also very interested in Digi. I have helped her with a several pages. Usually I set her up with a template and one kit and help her put the page together.

Recently I bought her a class over at Jessica Sprague. She came out with a photoshop class for kids. It's called My Awesome Life: Photoshop for kids. It is self paced and by the end of the lessons she will have an album about her life. She has only been through the first 2 lessons so far because we've been so busy the last couple months. But, I love the idea of her being able to learn photoshop on her own and not feeling like she needs me to be right next to her to make a page.

The only problem now will be sharing scrap time with her!! :)

I tried with my daughter. She's not at all interested in digi, so we went the physical route. Super simple... photos from her phone labeled using the collect app and printed as 3x4s. I picked up some card sets for her to use and an album. She lasted about 2 months and then quit. She has no interest in starting again which makes me sad. Oh well... at least I got her to start using ThisLife to backup her photos, so they'll be there if she ever decides to try again.

Bianca loves to sit down next to me and give me ideas. She is a bit demanding and a lot of times we end up with her view because, 1 - it's good and 2- I am not in the mood to "discuss it".

Haha, all of these are great. My daughter is 3.5 yrs old. so, I'm not sure if I will let her dictate element placement, or just print a selection of stuff and let her start pasting in a book or not. I know she's still really young. But she loves looking at "mommy's pretty pictures", so I am definitely printing them for Christmas gift this year. :)

But it may be her view but those will be pages to treasure. I remember how my boys would look at things so differently than me at times. I wish I had caught some of that.

I think that's a great idea. You could even print 2x3's (is that right? 4 on a 4x6) when you print your photos and either the pocket style or if she likes to paste (okay silly of course she does) she can have a great time making her own. As she learns to write it can even be gifts for grandparents or family and of course will be a treasure for when she's older.

Mine do both paper and digi. Sometimes they ask me to print out photos and they will put them in a book and decorate, and sometimes they want to help me make a digi page. Maggie (5) tends to be more excited about just picking the papers and elements, and then I'll do what I want with them and she'll tell me if she likes it. Dagmar (7) wants to control everything. She can drag things on the page and position them how she wants in Photoshop and then she asks me to add shadows, and sometimes tells me what to journal. This was the first page she made by herself (except for shadows and typing)... almost two years ago!

Here's part of a paper one she made about her 5th birthday. She dictated the journaling and I wrote it for her.

Sounds about right. And now that I have a printer, I can even do some of this printing at home. (When I figure out how to change the paper.... :giggle)

Thank you for joining in! Lol

That page is lovely, and the paper pages you shared, are all lovely. Gives me hope that Kaydee will like this too.

The first things that came to mind for stuff for her to use were Kate Hadfield and Jaque Larson's doodles. Lol! But pocket cards might be good too. :)

Oh yes... my daughter paper scrapped along side of me from age 3 years and up. And then when I went digital, I taught her that. But, now that she is a busy teen, she doesn't have time for either. I'm sure she will pick up again some day.
