Do you watch them? All of them? Just a certain type? Psychological thrillers or hack-em-up blood/gore?

I haven't seen a good scary movie in a long time. I don't like the really gory ones. I look for more of psychological scare, but I don't like to be too scared :giggle It is a careful balance. hahaha. I read a lot of scary books, but it is easy to put those down/stop reading if it gets too creepy.

M. Night Shyamalan has a new movie released this weekend (The Visit). I am trying to get my daughter to go and see it with me this week, but she's refusing. LOL.

So what about you?? Do you like to be scared? Read scary books? Watch creepy tv shows? Huddle against someone during a scary movie? Or do you avoid all things scary?

I don't mind most scary stuff, but I don't usually seek it out either. I don't like the realistic ones. I'm really enjoying The Strain, though.

I love scary movies/tv shows! But I'm not much for the really gory ones either... to me, that's not scary, just gross. I like the creepy factor!

My hubby and I have been watching the Walking Dead and now are watching the companion series Fear the Walking Dead. I look TWD, but there's no way I could watch it alone. I don't get into the gory scary movies, but I love the psychological thrillers (again as long as I'm not watching alone)

Another fan of a good scare, without the gore. I can read pretty much anything, because to me, it's only as gross as I let myself picture it, but when it comes to watching, I can't even watch medical shows that feature surgeries & such. I have come to really like American Horror Story, but I'd be a liar if I said I don't close my eyes or turn away at times.

I don't watch scary stuff since I saw Mia Farrow in "See No Evil" 44 years ago. I actually looked in closets and under my bed for months after that movie. So no more....

I will certainly watch a good scary movie - especially if there is a bunch of us together (::insert eveeeeeel laugh here:: muuwwaahahahahaha) but I will really only search out psychological thrillers to watch if I am picking. I love a good brain bender with a side of suspense.

Nope. Don't do them, unless I want to be kept awake with nightmares for the next 6 weeks. I have a very over-active imagination.

The Visit looks awesome. M. Night Shyamalan has the coolest/twistiest (Is that a word? No? OK, I make it one.) We will likely wait to watch at home.

The last scary movie hubby and I watched at the theater was totally ruined by some youngsters (yes, I'm old) who were making fun of the movie. It would have been much better without their running comedy routine.

I love Stephen King, and have been reading his novels since I was a young teenager.

I love horror, but less gore and more, I can't believe this is happening, oh-my-I'm-completely-creeped-out, what the heck is happening, kind of horror. LOL

No. Just No. Can't stand them. I will still have nightmares about Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds (that I accidentally watches a teeny part of as a kid). And my kids laugh at me when I tell them I was scared to death of The Incredible Hulk... yes, the old one... Lou Ferrigno. I'm a TOTAL WIMP.

I love the idea... but my mind plays tricks on me. Then I get freaked. A lot of the time, if it is gory or a bit over the top, it's funny to me... but the ones that start with your mind and freak you out there, those get me.

One that I remember... of course, because these things aren't forgotten... was a little short called Don't Turn Off The Lights.... up until the last 3 seconds it freaked me out. Then I giggled... but after DH and the boys went away for Spring Break... and I had to turn on a light and turn off the one behind me as I went to bed... alone. Cracks me up now, but it's true.

When I was in elementary school my dad got a copy of the original radio broadcast of "The War of the Worlds" by HG Wells. Even though I knew it was fiction, it scared the begeebers out of me, and did so for years to come. I imagined an alien peeking through open curtains at night, so I couldn't be at home without the curtains being closed.

Fast forward 5 years and I'm taking a Cinema Arts class in high school (Yes, we watched movies for an English class! ha!). And what does he play? "The War of the Worlds". Now I had Hollywood's vision of those scary things stuck in my head. Gaaah! I had to laugh about it all, but it still freaked me out.

No way. I truly do not understand purposely scaring myself for fun. Why would I do that? It makes no sense to me.

My daughter and her friends went to see The Visit on Saturday and LOVED it! But they're 13... so I'm not sure how much stake I would put in their review.

No. Just No. Can't stand them. I will still have nightmares about Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds (that I accidentally watches a teeny part of as a kid).

I did the same thing! There was some special on TV one night when I was little that was about movies and they were showing clips from all different ones. I really wanted to watch it, but my parents made me go to bed since it was late. I snuck out of bed and was watching from the hallway when the segment about The Birds came on. I still to this day have a slightly irrational fear of birds. I keep it in check, but if any fly up when I walk past, I'm sure they're coming to peck my eyes out!!

I love American Horror Story. Although I missed last season because my dvr broke and I never finished watching it.

I'm a complete Sally. Can't do scary. I hate being scared. My imagination can run away with me just when in a dark room. So *shiver*. Nope. Especially any that play on spiritual scariness or just plain deprived mind kind of scary.

No creepy! Sci fi I have found is acceptable because it's unlikely. I can watch Alien vs Predator no problem at all. Throw in murder/gory serial killer stuff, NO CAN DO! I'd never be able to sleep.

I have changed A LOT on that respect. When I was a teenager, I devoured books on terror, horror, supernatural ... I remember reading all the classics like Dorian Grey , discovering Theodore Sturgeon (not too scary) and then H.P. Lovecraft....... The Strange Case of Charles Dexter Ward was a fav of mine...and then I think I was 17 or 18 when The Shinning (the book) came out...from then on I went to see the film, loved it...and then I started watching them all... the Wes Craven movies, Hellraiser and everything like Chucky the doll (I think it was called Child's Play?) but then I started loosing the love for it, I think it was over being pregnant...not anymore.

very. very occasionally I have watched some stuff with Sarita...but nope, thank you.
I LOVE comedy and sci fi right now!!!!

I love anything horror, Im always either reading one, or watching one on Netflix. Like Cynthia, love HP Lovecraft, reading some at the mo!

I don't enjoy scary of any kind, and gore is the worst. When DH watches those I have to leave the room. I would be perfectly happy if all the scary movies disappeared off the face of the earth. :p
