No really... our night was spent at the zoo - Snooze at the Zoo! My daughter's girl scout troop and several parents arrived at our zoo at 6:45 pm. Our over night leader met us at 7pm... we got to pull our cars up behind the scene and begin our stay!
Now for those of you not in the know Omaha (where we live) has one of the top ranked zoo(s) in the world so this really was a big deal!
Our troop got to stay in the Hubbard Gorilla Valley... next to a family of gorillas that were quite tolerant of us being there!Except for the BIG male... he didn't like me much... if I as much looked at him, he'd charge the glass!
We started our night off with a night tour of the zoo! We went through the Leid jungle ( the largest indoor rain forest in the world)... so beautiful in the day, kind scary in the dark - there are bats flying over your head and the occasional cock roach scurrying by.
Next we toured the "kingdom of the night" - which at night is basked in daylight. We really got to see all the nocturnals getting ready to bunk down for the "day".
Back to our gorilla hotel and lights out at 11pm... wake up call 6am.
Breakfast and one last tour... the orangutan forest, the bears and the cat house...
Really an AMAZING trip! Even though we had to deal with cock roaches (there is no way around the cock roaches - they can't spray), no showers, no hot water... I'd do it again in a heart beat!
