Like the give a penny take a penny jar at your local convenience store, I would like for you to share some advice or a good tip about well anything! Who knows you may learn something or teach something to someone else!

So recently I discovered if you forgot to take your butter out to use it for baking, you can easily soften it. What you do is take a tall glass ( I used one with thicker glass) and pour hot water in it. Let it sit for a few minutes so the glass warms up. Pour out the water then place the glass on top of the butter. I left the stick wrapped. In a few minutes it will soften from the heat off the glass! And it works because we forgot to take the butter out for Thanksgiving!

In my freezer I keep an old plastic ice cream box, size about 2 cups. Whenever I get some veggies over after dinner/cooking, I cut it in small pieces (like corn sized) and put it in the box. It could be as little as a tomato slice or a few peas... everything counts. Once the box is full, I boil water, add a stock cube (or two) and then the veggies and some spices. Whatever I feel like that day. Leftover Soup - best soup ever.

I’ll have to try this one!

I never have soft butter because we keep our house cold so when I need to bake with softened butter I grate it with a cheese grater and it works great!

That sounds good

Any more advice? I figured there would be a thread full of handy dandy tips here to make our lives easier. Even if you think it isn’t noteworthy, it may help someone.

Rather than buying Mason jars and lids, use your glass jars from spaghetti sauce etc., they freeze just as well and it saves you some $. I make a big pot of soup and put the rest in jars, let cool pop in the freezer. I thaw overnight and you have just enough for lunch the next day and it's easy to transport.
