Today is National Radio Day

Let's chat radios :)
Do you listen to the radio?
Do you have a radio in your house?
Do you have a favorite station?
Do you like talk radio, music, or a mix?

I spend close to an hour and a half in my car every day when I'm working, so I listen to the radio a lot. I listen to a morning show on my way to work, and on my way home I either listen to the radio or I turn on a podcast. I listen to SiriusXM more than anything. I kind of play games with them... They offer me a great deal, I cancel when it's up, they will come back with an ok deal, I say no, they come back with a better deal.... I think right now I am paying $6 a month for about the next year. :giggle

I don't think I have a single radio in my house anywhere. I used to have a big stereo system and lots of radios back in the day, but nothing now. When I turn on music it's typically through my Echo. It probably wouldn't hurt to have one around I guess.

In the car I have Sirius XM. In the car I will listen to the 60's and 70's channel and a couple others that play music from that era. Or a news channel depending on the time of the day.

I do have a radio in the house. Just had it out Friday night to listen to the high school football game. I didn't want to wait for it to come on my cable tv local channel at 11:00 to watch it. Turns out I would have never calmed down enough to get to sleep if I had done that. The visiting team (a state champion in a lower division with a 32-0 record) was down by 12 points with about 5 minutes to go. They won by 3 with less than a minute left on the clock!

I bought it several years ago so that I had something in case the power went out during bad weather. With no power you can't charge any devices but with a battery operated radio, you can switch batteries out quickly. It sits in a cabinet right next to a battery operated lantern.

It sounds like you know how to make SiriusXM work for you Jan! I’m impressed! ;)

Do you listen to the radio?
On rare occasions. I prefer to listen to audiobooks or podcasts but sometimes I want music instead.

Do you have a radio in your house?
Yes. My old radio alarm clock I used growing up is in my girls’ bathroom.

Do you have a favorite station?
I like listening to a bunch of different stations. It depends on my mood.

Do you like talk radio, music, or a mix?
I liked one morning show until they got rid of my favorite DJ. Now I only like music.

I love the 70's channel! They messed me up when they moved the 60's channel and now I forget about it.
I definitely need to get a small battery powered one in case of emergency!
That sounds like an exciting football game! I just love HS sports. That's one of the reasons I love working at a high school. The excitement around this time is so fun!

I really like my SiriusXM, just not enough to pay like $25 a month for it lol I can always connect my phone and listen to Spotify or Pandora if I want variety.
I like a variety as well. I channel flip a lot!

I listen to The Acoustic Storm every Sunday on one of the local classic rock stations, but I did figure out how to stream it. Until recently I had not unpacked a radio, but I did dig out a portable one when I was meeting a worker at my daughter's new house one Sunday.

I will sometimes listen in the car, but most of my errands are so short I end up just tuning it out because I get mostly commercials.

SiriusXM is my radio of choice. I just can't take the commercials that run so frequently on traditional radio stations.

I like the 80s Channel, First Wave, BYU Radio, Road Trip Radio, Mosaic, The Pulse, Prime Country and Y2Kountry plus POTUS for talk radio and CNN for news. (I really miss the Garth channel since it ended.) I can play my Sirius stations on my Echo Show so no need for a radio in the house.

I sometimes listen to the radio in the car- I can usually find a good song playing on one of the six stations I like and avoid commercials by jumping between them. I used to listen to NPR in the car a lot when my kids were little but as they got older they would complain that they didn't like to listen to it so I got out of the habit. But for years I listened to a lot of Radio West (local show), Talk of the Nation, Fresh Air, Diane Rheem, and Science Friday. Podcasts and audiobooks have mostly replaced my radio listening. We do have a radio out in the garden shed and my husband has one in his office at work.

Sirius XM used to come on in my car for free every few months to try and hook listeners into paying for it, although I never did. But I loved those free months and would listen to a lot of the decade stations and I loved the Grateful Dead station!

I am a long time XM radio subscriber, but I also listen to Pandora & Spotify playlists. Here recently one of my all time favorite radio stations (several states away from me currently) came back after switching formats for 6 years. I am able to live stream it now so that kinda counts as regular FM radio, doesn't it? LOL

Do you listen to the radio? Yes, in my car.
Do you have a radio in your house? I have an old boom box that has a radio on it, but I don't listen to music at home b/c my housemates (daughter and grandson) complain about my choice of music (oldies/country/Christmas)
Do you have a favorite station? I mostly listen to 98.7 WMZQ (country), but occasionally I'll listen to the Delilah show on 97.1 WASH-FM (variety 80's, 90's today). All of the oldies (60's/70's) stations have disappeared.
Do you like talk radio, music, or a mix? Music, but I listen to the Bobby Bones Show in the morning going to work (10-15 minute commute) and there's a fair amount of talk.

I work from home and hardly ever listen to the radio since I mostly listen in the car. I will occasionally listen to NPR on our Echo and in the car I mostly listen to NPR if I'm driving in the morning or the local alt-rock station other times of the day. Other than the Echo and my ancient alarm clock, I don't think we even have a radio in the house. Like others, I've replaced lot of my radio listening with podcasts and Spotify too.

I jam out ton80s or 90s or even early 2000s on Spotify or YouTube when I'm scrapping or when Eric and I play cards ... (yes deaf people listen to music)... in the car i don't have a working radio... but Eric has sirus xm in the mustang for long trips and we flip through channels till we find a jam that we like

Do you listen to the radio? I very rarely listen to the radio. The only time I do is when I'm in the car, but my commute is .5 miles, so I don't really even get to listen to a whole song. Lol.

Do you have a radio in your house? I don't think so. I do have a radio app on my phone for like emergencies situations, but otherwise, I don't think we do anymore.

Do you have a favorite station? We have a newer alternative station that is my go to unless there's an ad on.

Do you like talk radio, music, or a mix? Music only please. If I take a long trip though, I'll put on an audio book.

Do you listen to the radio? No, only when I'm cleaning or on a long drive. My brain is so noisy that I appreciate silence every chance I can get!
Do you have a radio in your house? My girls have CD/radio players but that's it.
Do you have a favorite station? I just listen to Spotify when I'm cleaning.
Do you like talk radio, music, or a mix? Just music, or audiobooks if I'm driving a long distance and need to stay awake

Acoustic Storm sounds really cool! Our local classic rock station is my favorite when I listen to regular radio.

Once you get used to listening to SiriusXM, it's really hard to listen to regular radio with all the commercials. It drove me crazy during the time I was negotiating with them lol I really like the Classic Rewind and Classic Vinyl stations.

I jump channels a lot when I listen to regular radio because the commercials drive me nuts! I do listen to NPR from time to time. Podcasts are my go-to on the way home in the afternoon.
Now that you say that, I think we do have a radio out in our shed as well. DH used to listen to it when he was out there piddling around working :giggle

I love that regular radio stations are streaming online now. There are a few that I used to listen to from time to time that I had listened to years ago and forgotten about.

Do you listen to the radio? Yes, in my car.

Ohhh Delilah! I used to listen to her all the time. I haven't heard her in forever.
I listen to the Kidd Kraddick Morning Show on my way to work. I do enjoy morning radio shows.

I listen to NPR from time to time. I don't think I ever listen much at home. Occasionally I'll turn on a Sirius station on the Echo while I'm doing dishes or something.

I jam out ton80s or 90s or even early 2000s on Spotify or YouTube when I'm scrapping or when Eric and I play cards ... (yes deaf people listen to music)... in the car i don't have a working radio... but Eric has sirus xm in the mustang for long trips and we flip through channels till we find a jam that we like
I love 90's music, even more so than the 80's I grew up on.
Sometimes I feel like there are too many SiriusXM stations and I spend a lot of time flipping.

I've been doing my commute for so long, I can't imagine what a .5 mile commute would be like lol

Do you have a radio in your house? My girls have CD/radio players but that's it.
Do you have a favorite station? I just listen to Spotify when I'm cleaning.
Do you like talk radio, music, or a mix? Just music, or audiobooks if I'm driving a long distance and need to stay awake
I do really appreciate silence as well!!

Do you listen to the radio?
Yep!

Do you have a radio in your house? We have a record player that plays the radio. Plus, the radio in the cars and an emergency radio that runs by battery or winding. Cuz, tornados are a possibility here. Also, a few favorite radio stations from Utah have apps that stream their stations live on my phone.

Do you have a favorite station? A few. Locals, especially the one in town. They crack me up. The one Deejay is hilarious and always shares the most random things that I often go "Wait, what did she say?" and then laugh.

Do you like talk radio, music, or a mix? I'm picky about my talk radio. I like some Wait Wait Don't tell me, and a morning show, but only a few segments. Then music all the way. I reserve most of my 'talk radio' for podcasts.

We no not have a radio in our house. Don and I talked about getting a battery operated radio in the event of a major storm/power outage.

I subscribe to Apple Music. Thus, I sorta kinda listen to radio - more like playlists. Even in the vehicle, I will stream Apple Music rather than listen to traditional radio. I cannot stand commercials and rarely like commentary.

In the home, I will from time to time stream Amazon Music through my Firestick.
