April has landed!

I can hardly believe where the time is going but this year, our goal for you is to get pages scrapped, use your stash of digital art and if you’d like and have time, practice some fun techniques to build confidence in your mixed media scrapbooking.

Each month through 2024 a broad theme will be provided for the challenge and you can interpret these themes as literally or as loosely and abstractly as you wish.

If you’d like to learn something specific please inbox me with your suggestion!

Last Month's Winner:
Thank you for taking part in the March challenge, our winner drawn at random is @lm44west Congrats! Your Prize will be sent to you soon and all participations will be coming soon, watch your inboxes.

For April, let's focus on travel or journey somehow, and again, this can be interpreted as literally or as loosely and abstractly as you wish. Here are some ideas . . .
  • Commuting
  • Daily Walks
  • Dream travel destinations, whether real or imaginary
  • The details of a specific journey or trip
  • Celebrate an International journey or maybe on that's very close to home
  • Document Local Life as you see it from a trip you have been on, have you learnt about different cultures, food or traditions
  • Companionship of fellow travellers, friends, or family members who shared a journey
Tips/Technique/Tutorial:
With each challenge, a tip/technique/tutorial will be included. There is no pressure to incorporate the tip/technique/tutorial into your challenge page, the choice is entirely yours.

My page is simply a travel photo and a sweet moment with Mackenzie that I wanted to scrapbook from our summer holiday last year.

Tip:

Ever fall in love with a Mixed Media Paper but want to tone it down for your page a wee bit?
  • Experiment with blending the ready made Mixed Media Paper into a solid paper.
  • Position your chosen paper on the layer above your solid paper.
  • Adjust the opacity and blend modes if you wish on the Mixed Media Paper layer to reach the desired look you are comfortable with.
  • If you are feeling brave, try duplicating layers or bringing in other papers for additional creative effects.
In my layout, I wanted the Mixed Media Paper to be more subtle and brighter to match the lighting and tone of my photo.

I layered it above a solid white base, reduced the opacity of the mixed media paper right down to 32% which left me with a textured background that wasn’t so heavy and one that was much brighter and I liked the finish look much more.

This is one of the techniques I use a lot. I love to blend two or more pages together too!! This should be fun!

I love playing around with papers to create something original. I used a solid from Eden, then a MM paper from Soulangea cropped and reduced opacity to 78% then placed a striped paper also from Soulangea and darken blended.

I chose the topic of commuting and used 3 different backgrounds, blended. One was a white, heavily textured paper, the next was the stamped and painted layer, and then a solid green blended over that. Love how it came out...was trying to match the grass and leaves in the photo.

Here's some photos from our recent trip. I've combined Viridian & Stay Close - combined 3 templates from the collections & combined 5 papers to make the background. #overachiever

Thanks for the challenge! It was fun!

I haven't played with opacity very often so I used it on this layout. It's not difficult and I appreciate the encouragement to give it a try.

Great! Challenge!...I definitely do use this technique of blending 2 or more papers on pretty much every layout I create...Creatively...it just gives me so many more options...especially if...a specific paper has something I like in /on it...but I want to incorporate it with something else I like in \on with another paper background...I certainly did that here...I actually used 3 different papers for my background...plus I also blended in other elements & pieces to give the final effect that I was trying to create...

As for the meaning for this challenge...I chose the very personal JOURNEY...that I am on specifically...My journey of grief & sadness...while trying to find the strength to try to heal my broken heart & find some kind of personal peace...to try to move forward...while trying...to find some hope for the future...Thank You! for this challenge!!!...:bk ...

*full credits will be in my gallery*
