Should I:

1. Get a Costco membership and print my PL prints there?

2. Go to Best Buy and get the Selphy while it's on sale.

Costco: Convenient to my work, but not my house. Worried that I would end up soending more in the long run when I find stuff to buy in there as I pick up pictures. Also, love matte prints, which they offer as one hour

Selphy: convenient, but something else to take up space. Cost per print is rather high comparatively.

I started out PL 2011 printing at Costco. I switched to the Selphy in March 2011 and was MUCH happier. It improved my workflow and simplified the whole process for me.

I have a membership to Costco but I don't typically print much there. It's close to my home though and I spend anywhere from $200 - $300 a week there...even when I go in for one little thing. I can never just walk in and get one thing.

so...it may be more expensive in the long run to print at Costco if you are anything like me! :)

I'm a Costco girl. I just go in to the photo counter and don't even think about shopping. :D I like that you can get enlargements and 12 x 12 prints there, so to me, it makes more sense and seems cheaper in the long run.

I love Costco, but I can testify that the last time I went in there to pick up my prints, I spent $150. :rofl You would have to be very disciplined to just walk to the photo counter and back out. lol

It makes it so much easier to be able to print at home for this project. But cost effective is always better!

What is the ink cost for the Selphy? I love the convenience of printing at home, but for my printer (Cannon i9900) the ink cost is quite large. So, I use Persnickety Prints/Costco to print the layouts and use my home printer for smaller things (like printing on cardstock or small collages for inserts). Also, I'm 100% digital for PL.

Just my two cents...

I would go with which is cheaper: the Costco membership + the average number of prints you'd need per week + the cost of gas OR the Selphy + the average number of cartridges you'd go through on a monthly basis (and if you plan on printing any other non-PL things on the printer).

So I went with Costco. Hopefully since most of the time that I go there, I will be on my lunch break, I won't really have time to shop too much.

I vote for printing at home. I just recently had photos printed from snapfish and they mailed them to me. I had some old credits so just needed to pay for shipping. I normally do mine digitally.
