Question for Ticket to Ride Players

Based on the suggestion I found here, we got Ticket to Ride as a family game last year for Christmas. We absolutely love the game and play it a lot. Now the kids are asking for more. So, my question is, what is the best "more"? Is it an expansion pack for the original game or is it one of the other games, such as the Europe one? I got overwhelmed looking at the options on Amazon, so I thought I would ask here.

Thanks!

My input is that of the three boards I've played, I'd say US board is easiest, Europe is in the middle and Asia was the hardest. I did not find expansion packs for the US board to be worthwhile.

My hubby has collected almost every individual map and standalone game they've created. The only one he doesn't have is the whole world map because he says it's too pricey for what you get. I enjoy the US and the Europe games.

But the individual maps don't have as much appeal to me. They all include one twist to make the game play different. But having to learn a new strategy for essentially the same game is annoying to me. The maps themselves are all cool, so if it's a country /region that I'm interested in then it's more appealing.

This sounds like a great game. I may have to pick up the Europe version for our Christmas game.

We love it here too, but only have the US version. If I was buying one I'd buy the Europe one, but that's just because I love travelling in Europe virtually or otherwise LOL. (Regrettably games are so expensive here - cheapest you can get TTR is $75 - about US$65 - and it's hard to find places who will post them from overseas for a reasonable price)

We only have Europe, but I've considered getting another pack or game, too.... not very helpful I guess.

Settlers of Catan is a fun game. So is Agricula...I think that's how you spell it. There are a bunch of games like that that our kids love.

@AnneofAlamo I just bought Forbidden Island! We had some collaborative board games when the girls were younger, but sadly they've outgrown Mermaid Island. (But if any of you following this thread have little girls on your list, it was probably the most played boardgame in our house.)

I've been looking for something to replace it for a while.

oh @Juliestcyr I never even knew such games existed! I have 3 very competitive to the point of ridiculous boys..
we played this game for almost an hour...we actually won it the first time, but just barely and later found we had made an error with cards.but love it so much. The collaboration is just a joy! I so hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

Thanks for all of the input! I decided to hold off on adding to our Ticket to Ride collection and purchased two other games instead. I'm afraid that if we buy another Ticket to Ride game, they'll abandon the first one. So, I'll give it another year of play and then add Europe next Christmas.

Y'ALL ARE BAD INFLUENCES! lol. I bought Ticket to Ride after reading this thread. I was done with Christmas shopping but I thought this would be a good "family gift" for all of us. So Santa is bringing it Christmas morning lol. Anyway, this site has given me lots of good advice on lots of different topics (including other games, like Dimension), so I know this'll be a Christmas win! But seriously, stop making me spend money, people! :bunny

thanks for this thread - i followed a bunch of links and read thru amazon reviews and went back through the games blog posts @sarahbhb wrote and we added Forbidden Island that @AnneofAlamo also highly recommended cos y'know at some points the wi-fi mysteriously stops working but it's a blessing in disguise, square eyes and all ;)
