What do you use to scan QR codes? We have iPhones and it's built into the camera... no separate app any more. Is this the same for Android phones?

My daughter had to do an end of year dance company project and she chose to do a video. They display everyone's projects at the recital and have asked for Clara to display a way to access her video. They wanted a link, but we thought a QR code would be easier... they said okay as long as we provided instructions on how to scan the code on her display board. Just wanted to make sure that we had the proper instructions on the board!

Thanks!

I use Lightning QR on my Android phone for scanning, but I haven't tried making my own code; I followed @Karen's instructions here to generate one to add to scrapbook layouts, maybe that's an option?

I just looked in the Playstore; QR Code Generator & Scanner has a 4.6 rating; the one I have can only scan. Hope this helps too!

Mine is called QR Droid. I'm not sure if it was already installed on my phone.

I feel like you could say "use your QR app to scan here"...in this day in age it seems like people would know to go look for an app if they didn't have one.

It would be so much easier than typing in a link...

I think we'll keep it that simple... something like what you said and then add "or scan with your iPhone camera". Definitely easier than typing out a link... I doubt anyone would look at her project if they had to type the link in. Plus the QR will fill her display a bit.

I'm a bit of a QR code generating addict! :-) Love those things!! Thanks for clarifying though... on android you do need a separate app to scan them.

That you already knew ROFL!! I don't know why a QR code isn't part of the cameras on Android? I have the Samsung 9s+ and I looked to see if it was something I had missed, but nope, doesn't have one built in.

No worries... you just gave me bonus info!! :giggle

QR reading is built into my Moto Android camera. So.....the answer is maybe they have it already?

When I had a Samsung without it built in, I used Lightning QR Code Scanner. At the time, it had no ads, so I liked that.

Okay; I just did a quick Google search and found this workaround...I had no idea! I never use that web browser, I use Chrome.

Really? This isn't a feature of the latest phone? I figured it was because I had the S5 that it didn't work.

With this option, you still have to open that web browser, hit the 3 dots at the upper right, click scan QR code then scan the code since it's not an actual setting within the camera itself. Much quicker to just download an app and do it that way.

That's awesome!

I love having it as an option in my camera - no separate app required!
