This is close to my heart, considering DH is a biker as am I by default lol.
We lost a close friend last year due to a woman switching into his lane without looking. And the year before the same thing happened on our clubs poker run. Only that time we had 34 bikes on the road. I'm a first responder so luckily I kept our guy alive until the paramedics got there.

I made this LO....

Me too!!! Well, my husband rides a motorcycle. It is his mode of transportation 90% of the time. We haven't lost anyone that I know of, nor does he participate in any clubs or groups. I've never been on one. My mom rides, as well, and my father in law. I know several, is my point. I wish you a happy, safe season!

I shall ignore your happy club...I like to think of you as my friend Erin, she is biker and scrapper...think scrapping and anarchy together! lol hugs to you, and prayers for the road!

Ahahahahaha! @AnneofAlamo as soon as I say club people assume the worst. Ours was brought over from Germany 20 years ago and has never had anything to do with the bike gangs or any sort of bad activity. If they did, I wouldn't be with DH.

Erin the anarchist Scrapper! Lmao! That cracked me up for reals! xo

@klee73010 it's pretty good actually. Lots of adventure and drama. Not sure how realistic it is but it's good entertainment.

Thanks for the reminder! We have both very conscientious and very... naughty... bikers around here. I try to be aware of all of them. :) Everyone deserves to enjoy the open road safely.

Oh gosh, I've seen more cars driving like jerks than I have seen bikes. But the warmer weather is a good reminder that we car people are sharing the road with other types of vehicles and we should always be alert! It's just that I've got an issue with 3 brothers--all under 16 so no license!--who live in our neighborhood who take their dirt bike (which doesn't have a license plate) on the roads. So I'm more nervous about them than I am about the responsible bike riders. Your post just reminded me that soon I'll be dealing with those kids again. :angry Anyway, I'm sorry for hijacking your thread with my story!

It's so unsafe for them! I know some people have sent anonymous tips to the police. There was a state trooper at their house in the late fall and I'm hoping it was related to the riding. (I guess I'll find out in a few weeks when it gets warm enough for them to ride again!) People are afraid to say anything to the parents (who must know cuz the dad is retired so he's home when happens) cuz they're afraid the boys will retaliate. And if the trooper was there for something else, then I'm hoping the boys got scared enough by the trooper's presence that they stop riding!

hubby and I used to ride a road bike around the country side up north when we were younger and have had a couple of near misses that scared us...here in Australia motorbikes have to have their headlights on at all times while riding and still people don't see you because they just don't look carefully enough! Take care on the roads and look out for motor bikes ....sorry to hear about the loss of your friend Erin xx

Agreed! DH rides and is in a club as well (about as far from SoA as you can get). Every time he heads out I worry until the minute he pulls back in the driveway!

@mrs2a50 exactly. I ride with him a lot but with the kids I can't go that often. It's always on my mind until I hear those pipes coming up the hill!

I have several close friends who ride, so I'm always on the lookout for bikers. I just don't understand how people can say they don't see them, it's not like they're the size of a Matchbox!

@readingfool Totally! And we have super loud pipes, obnoxious I know, but "loud pipes save lives" and we've still had near misses. Once we had to veer into the no mans land between lanes....thank god there was no barriere.

I was a rider in my 20s, loved every minute of it, I even traveled from Madrid to Murcia with a boyfriend when I was living in Madrid... never had anything happening to me but lost a couple of friends and a friends of mine lost her brother...then I got a car.
I have to say, as much as I know what the bike feeling is, and how amazing riders can be.... I am glad that Sarita (my daughter) is not interested in them not a bit...... here in London not only there are lots of idiotic car drivers.... but also a lot of wreck-less bikers....

I agree. My uncle was killed in 2002, while riding his motorcycle. Also someone I know was killed this past November in our town, because of a moron who made an unsafe lane change. He was only 33 and left behind 4 young kids. It scared my friend's husband (the person who died was a good friend of his) so badly that he is thinking about selling his bike. People need to stop being so ignorant and just be careful. I honestly don't know why it's so hard.
