PS CS5 help...

I've been using Photoshop CS5 since Jan and there's one thing that I get annoyed by and can't seem to fix. When I add an layer effects like a drop shadow to a layer, the fx are expanded and show the drop shadow under the layer. I'd prefer that they aren't expanded so that my layers list isn't any longer than it already will be. Does anybody know if there's somewhere that this is a setting that I can change?

Hi Karen

I have CS4 but maybe they're the same? Go to the down arrow on the layers palette to expand the options then click "Panel Options" and then uncheck "Expand New Effects".
