Hi. I've been taking some photos for PL and I'd like to start putting together a layout (I'm still waiting to get my page protectors). I was planning to print out my photos at the local photo place but now I'm thinking I should print them myself. I'm thinking if I print them myself I can add speech bubbles, frames, and all kinds of fun things to them. I can also print them out in any size I want as I'm putting together my page. I've never printed photos before though. I know I'll need photo paper. What kind would you recommend? Do I need special ink? I have a regular HP 6500a printer. Will that do or will I need a special kind of printer? I need to spend as little money as possible as finances are incredibly tight. Also how do I print out photos from mine and my husbands cell phones? Any ideas or suggestions would be so appreciated. Thank you all so much! Have a great day and happy scrapping! -Roni

Hi Roni! I print out photos in my regular HP printer as well (it's over 4 years old) and I love the convenience. You should just buy some photo paper and try it out. I use glossy paper for photos. I don't have a camera on my phone, but I print photos from my DH's iPhone. He synchronizes the data on his computer, sends the photos to me and then I open them in Photoshop, edit, and print. I think you can email the photos from the cell phones? That would be the easiest way to get them to your computer.

I like matte paper personally for mine. I bought an Epson Charm printer for about $125 before Christmas for this project. It uses either glossy or matte paper, but only prints up to 4x6.

I use the Photosync app on my phone (and my computer). It uses the wireless in the house and I can send the picture right from my phone without using the cords. My son and daughter text me photos and I Photosync them. Your husband could do that. I open in PSE and either print 4x6 or use Lili's 4x6 templates to combine on one page to print.

I put digital tags and word art on most of mine.

My husband gave me a Canon MX420 printer/copier/scanner for my birthday last month. I am starting to print out my 4 x 6 project life digital artwork that I'm making. I bought a box of glossy 4 x 6 HP Everyday photo paper. Well, it's not 4 x 6! The box says it is but the paper itself is 4 x 6.5! Luckily I have a paper trimmer and can snip off the extra .5 but come on! Also I'm having a problem with printing my 4 x 6 designs it's like cutting the wording off which is so annoying since I do a lot of journaling. I ruined a whole bunch of papers. I now have it set so it puts a border around each one and that seems to not cut off my journaling. Anyone else have this problem? I use photoshop elements 7.0. Should I be making my canvas size bigger or smaller so it will print entirely on a 4 x 6 paper?

What papers do you use that is a true 4 x 6 in size?
