I just taped up the boxes and will be standing in line this morning to mail photobooks to my mom, my Littles bio gramma and siblings, and Christmas cards. I love it. I enjoy babbling with the people in line. We have ONE post office in our town, and I think it is part of the Christmas experience...lol
Anyone else have this on their list of TO do soon?

I usually head there to get a crazy amount of stamps and to drop off our cards! There is always a huge line, and people are nice, but no one chats, lol! My kids usually end up giving other a chuckle or so - whether they are clumsy, try to get me to purchase odd stamps, or just being their silly selves.

The postman just picked up my packages. No line for me!!!

My cards are not yet done... like the picture hasn't even been taken. :whistle I haven't decided what my ornament will be this year, so I haven't started on them yet. And I don't send many gifts out. I still have time..... :giggle

Our post office is inside a grocery store and there is almost never much of a line. I am too cheap to send very much anyway. That is what I get for living 5000 miles from family!

I love going to our post office to get my Christmas stamps. We are lucky to have a small, local one where everyone is friendly and know each other...and yes, it does usually involve a lot of chatter. :heartlub

We have only one post office, long lines, and usually only one postal worker, but people are not friendly or chatty. LOL. We're lucky that we have a machine in the lobby where you can weigh/ship on your own, so I plan to wait until late evening and then head over. LOL. Last year, I stood in a FOREVER line just to mail one package, and it is totally frustrating. I wasn't forward-thinking enough to get everything for Conan on Amazon, so I have one box that I'm wrapping/packing everything that remains and I'm sending it at some point next week. His main present arrived there yesterday via Amazon.

Our post office is inside an antique store . . . like a huge antique mall, I guess. It's terrible. You go in there to mail something and end up wandering around aimlessly. I have to put blinders on just to get in and out of there. I'm a sucker for old things. LOL

Ask Danyale. It's like unbearable temptation.

So noooooo, I try not to go in there. LOL

I avoid the post office. I usually print all my postage at home and just drop them off through the drive thru. LOL Hate the lines!

Uggggh Thank goodness the large majority of my family lives right here in my own home town. The post offices here are terrible and no one wants to be there so no one is friendly. Thy are also dirty nasty always. I havent even thought about Christmas cards some years i do them some years I dont. Maybe I am becoming a scrooge i my old age LOL

Our post office is in our local newsagency, love it. i got to know the owner when we were building our house and he held our mail for us. Now I am a bit spoilt and don't have to wait in line to pick packages up (he just grabs it while I'm browsing magazines or chatting to whoever is there and slips the package to me, no fuss).

Still have to line up when I'm dropping stuff off, but it's never too long a wait...

Have fun Anne!

I think it's interesting that some of you are talking about only having one post office... are there really places that have more than one? I thought it was a one per zip code kinda thing?

So... needless to say, we only have one post office and it's tiny and small and hasn't changed one single bit since I used to go there as a kid with my Grandpa to pick up his mail from his post office box. It still smells the same too. Lol. I went a couple of weeks ago and bought my stamps for my Christmas cards and that's as far as I've gotten with my cards. sigh. I always make a digi "card" to include inside a real card and I haven't made that yet. I also haven't made my 4x6 calendar for the grandparents yet either. We've been too busy enjoying our boys' basketball season.

Karen what you said is accurate. However you have to remember that some cities are right next to each other and each have their own post office. For instance I grew up in as all town that had its own post office. For shopping and school we had to go to the next town over(7minsaway). That town had its own post office. Many times we would do our packages at that post office when we were out shopping. This same situation applies to where I live now. And I live several states away from where I grew up. So it's the that uncommon to have ready access to more than one post office.

bhahah...I just figured it was because we are a small town...lol, and the small town next to us? we share the same zip code...so they don't even have a Post Office...we actually have 4 littlier than us towns within 30 miles or so, and we all share this post office and zip code...one used to have a PO, but it closed (they have 14 families in their town) tee hee
but my daughters and I go, and try and make Scrooge bah humbugs laugh. I have been known to do a small stand up comedy routine and my girls help...pure fun!

Going Saturday early and heading straight for the automated machine for packages. Wish me luck!
