Ok ladies, so I'm in need of a new P&S camera like NOW!! My camera died after only a year it was the Panasonic Lumix DMC - ZS19. Now it started out as a great camera, I actually LOVED it. I bought this one as an upgrade from an earlier version of the Panasonic Lumix that was purchased back in 2007. However, BOTH camera died exactly the same way... one day I turned the camera on and it would keep zooming in and out and then tell me there was a system error (or some crap like that) and it would turn off and no matter what I did I couldn't get the thing to stay on and take a photo... I sent it to Best Buy where I bought it (my warranty had Just ran out so I couldn't get it replaced) Anyways I was going to pay to have it fixed however there was nothing they could do that would cost any less than buying a replacement.

Sooo.. I am in need of a new camera. I want to stay away from that brand now after having Both cameras quit the same way. I am currently saving up to get my Canon DSLR but until I get that camera I need a point and shoot camera that I can carry with me at all times.

PLEASE help me find a good camera ASAP.. you ALL know how IMPORTANT having a nice camera on hand at all times is for us Digi addicts so go ahead and show me what you got or want!!!

I love my Canon PowerShot...It was kind of a midrange one as far as point & shoots go, but there are lots of manual adjustments available, great zoom, and takes fairly decent indoor photos without a flash and to me that made it worth the extra dollars, especially since I knew I wasn't going to be buying a DSLR anytime soon. Mine is a few years old, but I believe the newest model of the camera I own is the Canon PowerShot SX500.

Huh, my Lumix died EXACTLY the same way. It died while we were on a weekend trip to NYC, so I needed a new camera ASAP. So without any research I bought a Canon S110, because my DSLR (which I had left at home be we were going to an outdoor concert and I wouldn't be able to take it in) is a Canon, and I love it. The S110 is ok, I don't love it like I loved the Lumix. I've heard great things about the high end Sony, but its really expensive for a point and shoot. I've been seeing some really nice stuff on Facebook from a friend who has an Olympus PEN - which is one of those new micro 4/3s cameras - looks awesome and Amazon has its on sale - 1/2 price - but there's only one left in stock.

Good luck!

I'm of no help, but I use my iphone...LOL I had once wanted the Olympus Shock/water proof P&S though to take everywhere

My P&S is my iPhone. LOL

But I do have a Canon G6 that is really good, it's super old though so they probably have like G24 by now. It's pretty high end for a P&S but it does a great job and has some manual settings so it's a good one to have if you're planning on transitioning to a dSLR in the future.

I have a good old Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W300, good little point and shoot, was a replacement for the older sony I had which my son decided to use it as a mcvity biscuit and dunked it in my cuppa coffee, just so pleased he does not go anywhere near my Nikon d5100 SLR

I have the Canon S90 (it's older now , Laura's S95 is the newer one and I think the actual one is the S100) and it makes very good pictures and is not so big!

I have a Sony cyber shot that I love, since getting my DLSR hubby has pinched the Sony when we are out together, but I still like to use it when I need it

I actually ordered my camera and had it delivered over night.. because I'm not a patient person AT ALL! lol
So I did it.. I ordered and I went with the Canon PowerShot SX40 HS (a little older but still newer than what I had and seems to be a LOT better)!
So here's my first selfie of me and my new baby.. don't mind the icky bathroom mirror shot
