I am really trying to talk myself into doing a complete Project 365 in 2011. I think my biggest obstacle is that I don't like to haul my DSLR everywhere I go. I have a Canon 30D. I really like it, but I think I need a P&S too, just for convenience. Anyone use a P&S as their only camera or even as "second camera" and have one to suggest? TIA

I use one as my only camera. I love it. It's a Sony something or other (not exactly sure of the model, and I'm too lazy to get up & go get it... mid $300's range model). Takes great pics. Has plenty of quick & easy customizable features like scene selection that allows you to select your environmental settings. Also lets you adjust lighting, etc to some degree... I know nothing about that, though, so I just skip it. :giggle This would be why I have a point & shoot and not a fancy camera. ;)

I have a canon powershot sx110is that I love. It has manual mode so you can adjust everything just like the DSLR. Great zoom on it too. I think it's been upgraded so the number might be different.

i want my point and shoot bacK:(
i bought a Rebel and although its a nice camera, i miss having my Canon one that could fit in my purse
and it took just as good pictures to me too

Up until two weeks ago, I only used point and shoots. (I just got myself a Rebel!) I've gone through three Sony Cybershots and I've loved them all. The first one was just out of date and the second one I beat up pretty badly. Third one is still going strong! LOL!

I use a Canon Powershot SD1100is and I love mine! It doesn't take as good of pictures as my DSLR of course, but it definitely gets the job done. I also love that video clips it takes and I use it as my only video camera. My mother-in-law just bought the sd1300is and she loves hers too.

Yup, I have a Canon something-or-other P&S. I call it my 'purse camera' as that was the deciding factor when I was choosing a new P&S. It goes with me everywhere.

The DSLR is ready to go if something happens at home or when I take it for an event or celebration, but I like having the P&S in case I'm out with 'normal' people and just want a quick shot of something without the hassle of, 'Gosh, you have a big camera!' 'Are you a professional?' 'Do you take that with you everywhere?' 'Would you take a picture of XYZ over there for me?' :giggle

i have a canon p&s (my only camera) and it does take some great pics for a p&s I would def go with a canon for a p&s

I have a Canon Powershot that's a few years old...and it takes great pics. I keep it on manual though. Mine is difficult to work though...and i'd like a new one if they had one that's touch screen. Those are just so easy to use!

I just got a Nikon S8100 and I love it! I also didn't want to drag my Nikon D40x around everywhere - the P&S is so much more discrete that I know I will use it in more places than my DSLR.

Another Cannon p&s here...fabulous camera. Love it! I've had both Sony and Olympus and both were good, but I prefer Cannon (PowerShot A2000IS). And, just a note on customer services issues, had mine 11 months when the lense froze up, shipped it off and inside 2 weeks it was fixed and back in my hands (just got it today). I'm impressed!
