I know there were some Podcasts mentioned in a thread the other day of things you all are listening to, but I would love some recommendations for new ones to listen to in the car. I have a 45 minute commute home in the evenings and I'm all caught up on the two that I listen to the most - The Vanished and Crime Junkie. New episodes are only once a week, so I need something to listen to on the other days. My favorites are true crime and mysteries, but I'm open to other kinds of things. So, whatcha got?

Also, am I the only one that's super picky about the host's voice? Like no matter how interesting the subject, the host has to have just the right voice. I've turned on some really great rated shows and turned them off immediately because the host's voice just bothers me :giggle

If you're looking something a bit lighter, try By the Book. It's two women that live by a new self help book for 2 weeks then talk about it, they've got a cute banter and I find myself laughing out loud at the things they put their husband's through while they live by these weird self help books.

Two come to my mind...

Spilled Milk - two friends who investigate food subjects which tends to involve a lot of references to sex and laughter. both a plus for me.

The Enneagram Journey - while it has a religious base, the speaker is a funny woman who is married to a former Roman Catholic priest. That in itself says that they are not your typical ministerial family. Dick and I still have trouble understanding each other - amazing, huh? I am the extroverted 1 and he is the introverted 5. If you want a way to look at your similarities and differences it's great. I needed some podcasts to keep me relatively upbeat while he was getting sick and when he was in the throes of cancer and the treatment.

So I also listen to
The Moth
Oprah's Super Souls Conversations
Feel Good Effect
Cultivate a Good Life (Becky Higgins)
and seriously wish Anna Forrester would start doing Pocket Talk again!!! I really miss good scrapping Podcasts.

I'm sure you've listened to Dirty John. That was good.

I like non-murdery podcasts so these may not be your thing, but they're funny.
How Did This Get Made (movie podcast)
The Dollop (crazy American history). DH loves listening during his commute.

...and two Real Housewives-focused podcasts:
Everything Iconic with Danny Pellegrino
B*tch Sesh

Writing them all down! Spilled Milk sounds great! I need to get my hubby to do a Enneagram test. I am a 1 as well :)

Chance would probably enjoy The Dollop...he is a history fiend! He doesn't usually like to listen to my Podcasts lol.
Writing all these down, too! Thanks!!

Oh, it's an explicit podcast, which I should have mentioned. Just FYI.

I bounce around a lot with podcasts. I like true crime as well. I've been trying a lot of new ones lately (some friends from high school and I have a true crime discussion group on fb and I get a lot of suggestions from there). I get being picky about voices, I'm like that as well. My friends raved about one the other day, but I can't get past the host's voice, so I stopped after one episode.

Here are some I've listen to or listen to regularly:
The Dollop - history, so inappropriate but so funny at times.
The Mortified Podcast - Adults read their teen diaries aloud. Some are funny, some are super cringe-y.
My Favorite Murder - One of my regular go to podcasts.
True Crime Garage - Haven't listened much lately but enjoy the episodes.
Someone Knows Something - Recently listened to Seasons 1, 2 and 5 (I think I liked five the best so far) Canadian True Crime
In the Dark - Season 1 is my favorite, but Season 2 was good too. Really good true crime investigation.
Cold - True Crime, crazy story.
Criminal - recently tried an episode (126) and it was a crazy story... not entirely sure how I feel about the hosts yet.

Love some of the suggestions here! I need something positive to break up all of the true crime, definitely going to give Finding Fred a try (thanks Kiana @LoveItScrapIt).

Oh... I also started Harry Potter and the Sacred Text after seeing that they were coming to speak at our church. But after listening to a couple of episodes, I thought I would like to read the chapters along with listening to the podcast and just haven't made the time to start the books again.

Thanks for all the suggestions and glad I'm not alone with the voice thing! Cold is one I've been meaning to give a listen to. And yes, Criminal... I listened to a couple and wasn't sure how I felt about the hosts either.
I heard lots of good stuff about True Crime All the Time, but again, the hosts have not held my attention very well.

It only felt right to warn you. I didn't want you mad at me! :giggle
We were talking in the car the other day and I censored myself on some word or another. Chance was totally confused. He kept asking me why I didn't say the word..."but mom, you always say that word" :giggle

I'm such a loser - I've never listened to a Podcast. :crazy3
I never really listened to them until the last couple of months or so. The only time I can is in the car during my commute. If I try to do it at home, I just can't focus and miss most of what they're saying.

I thought I'd reread the books along with the podcast too, but turns out I remember enough. For one thing, my three kids and I were obsessed with Harry Potter from 2007 through around 2012; I read them aloud several times! Besides, they both do a 30 second review of each chapter/episode. I'm enjoying the podcasts without rereading the books.
