So I'm using the official Becky Higgins templates for my PL. I know there are others floating around that are very similar. My question is what to do with all the cute journaling packs being released. Most of them are square and have some sort of pattern or border that messes with my BH rounded 3x4 corners. So far I've just made do or left out a card that I really liked if I couldn't make it fit. One week in April I even left 2 journal cards on the page, but left them unattached to the template so they had straight edges while the rest of the page had rounded corners.
I guess what I'm asking is if there is a standard rounded corner size that everyone should be using?
Are you doing it digitally or hybrid? I am a corner rounder (not that I do PL, yet), but in my paper scrapping life I was a corner rounder. If it was not a text I could not care if I was cutting a bit, just so I could get my rounded corners. LOL! I say, just chop away... Free yourself!
I try to keep in mind that people might want to round the edges when I create my journal cards but have to say that I personally wouldn't mind mixing and matching square edges with rounded edges. It's probably even something I would go for...LOL
I just clip them to the template and don't worry about it. In 20 weeks of doing this, I've found maybe two or three that really looked funky with rounded corners, but I guess my need for everything to have rounded corners is greater than my need for everything to look right. Either way you're going to struggle. If you went with straight corners, you'd struggle with all the journal cards that already have rounded corners. There is a rounded corner action included in the Project Mouse bundles that I really like.
No, it makes me crazy too, and I do not have any ocd tendencies at all. (unless this qualifies me)
See here, I used two cards with 90 degree corners, and I rounded them, and it. just. bothers. me.
The whole album is rounded; it's supposed to tie the album together. But the straight lines make me itchy.
I ran into this problem as well. I am personally one that likes square corners instead of the rounded corners so I was just using them as they were instead of clipping them to the rounded template. A little ways into the project though I think I started clipping them and I didn't like how it made the card look all funky but I guess I just rolled with it. But, I just thought about this. There is a corner rounder action in one of Krista's Project Mouse sets. Do you think it would work to run that on the square journal cards first? I haven't used it so not exactly sure how it works but it may be worth checking into. I am doing a completely different look in my PL now so I am probably no help at all.
Okay, here's an example where I just had to go with the straight edges because using the rounded corner from the BH template was going to cut off wording. And actually now that I look at it, I'm not nearly as bothered by it as I was when it happened. LOL
I really like mixed rounded and straight... I think it adds interest to the page... makes you take a second look... like why did she choose rounded for this card and straight for that card, kwim?
i think it looks PERFECT with the mix of rounded & straight edges. i wouldn't sweat it for a second if i were you. really. these are not the big issues of life. get'er done and move on, i say!!
