Photobucket yuck

Gave up on Photobucket ages ago, only use Postimage.org now! its free, easy to use and no problems at all with it so far!! :)

Mine stopped working too yesterday and I'm not interested in a paid account. Flickr here I come!!!!

The paid account is only 99 cents. I like it because with the paid account, I don't get ads when I log in and am able to keep everything in one place. I don't like the other photo sharing sites like imgur because it either has too much ads or I cannot put my image private. Read the fine print when you sign up for those sites as it may say you can't put your images private. My 2 cents.

Another reminder that in the digital world, everything you value should be backed up in at least one but better two hard copies (EHDs etc). Sad to see this company appear to go for the instant $$$s.

The pages and previews are not gone - they are still there but they will not be shown on a blog, in a forum etc. You can download all.

I haven't had problems with Photobucket like this. The images are still shown on third party sites. Maybe this only happens with users with US IP addresses?
Anyway, what I find really "yuck" about PB are the really horrible pictures I see in click bait ads. Ex stars ageing , ugly before and after images and the like. That is what makes me turn away from PB. I can understand ads - they must make their money somewhere - but those are just the worst.

I always just upload my signature to the gallery here at TLP. I've never used Photobucket or Imgur. Sometimes I host images on my own Smugmug account, where have my website.

Yeah, mine is trying to charge a ridiculous amount, can't remember how much because I laughed so hard at it and closed it.

How much did I swear at Photobucket this week? I don't use it a lot, just for some DT work, but trying to charge $399 to image share.. man, the drop off for photobucket clients is going to kill them...
Have swapped to Post Image, so much easier than photo bucket as well. Just have to sort my siggy now..

Working on deleting all my images so I can close my account... I haven't used it for a couple years now, but this isn't a good deal. I read the TOU. What a terrible company. Happy to pay $40 to SmugMug.

I am super miffed, I have registered for both imgur now and photoimage and will have to check out how to keep my images private, I hate new learning curves. But what photobucket did was simply outrageous.

On imgur, my images are as private as I share them. They are hidden from search engines, but can be found via the link. And really, anything posted to the internet can be found if someone looks hard enough, or knows the algorithm. I assume, for better or worse, if I post it to the internet, it could become public someday.
The more important thing for me, was the copyright info. I remember when Facebook was using people's photos in their ads, and claimed they had the legal right to. Imgur is very clear: "images are covered under our copyright policies and processes (which state that the image owner controls the full copyright and permissions to the uploaded image). This means the original uploader keeps all of the control. "
I totally agree! You have to read the fine print of any service you use!

I have moved my sign over to Imgur and uploaded it as a 600x300 image yet when displayed in our forums it is HUGE. Any suggestions?

Love your sign! What dimensions did you use? I too am completely done with photo bucket!

I disliked PB years ago.... and switched to SmugMug. That was a good thing for me, and it has been worth the cost, and I upload EVERYTHING to it!

I think how PB went about the switch was bad publicity and will do more damage to the company. Flocks of people are leaving. I understand that people might have to pay, but for the service (bad when I had it), and the crazy cost, there is no reason to stay.
