I have 1000's of photos. Some of them will never be scrapped. But I still love them because they still tell a story about my family. Currently I have been slowly printing them off and sticking them in cheapy walmart photo albums. I had the thought the other day that maybe I should start making digital photo albums instead of printing out each photo. I "think" it would be more cost effective this way, and I would have the benefit of making those extra special pictures larger in the book. Now here is where you all come in....

Do you have any companies that you would recommend? I must say that I am looking for quality, price, and ease of use. I don't want something cheap if the quality is terrible. KWIM? I have used blurb for my blog books, but I'm not 100% sure that is the way I want to go with this project. Anyone tried them for this?

Anyone attempted this kind of a project?

Advice on how to go about it?

Any help would be welcomed!

i haven't done this yet - but it's on my "to-do" list as well ... i need to organize my pictures first though! LOL! i *think* i'm going to have my books printed through apple because i am going to use iPhoto to organize my pics and i think it's pretty easy to order books directly through iPhoto. i did my calendars through apple last year and liked the quality a lot.

I use Shutterfly for all of my 12x12 scrapbook pages in a 12x12 book. I've also done a couple of photobooks through them but that was many years ago. They now have an all custom version of their photobooks that you can shrink and crop each photo in the photobook and add text boxes and even elements wherever you want them. It's like digiscrapping without photoshop! I haven't tried that yet either though.

I use Blurb-love their quality! oooh and the iPhoto ones are beautiful-my sister in law makes them all the time.

I would recommend looking through some of the photo companies that cater to photogs if quality is a big issue. Places like whcc, mpix,.... I have only done some photobooks with my scrap pages and I have used shutterfly, blurb, and AdoramaPix. By far, AdoramaPix was the most amazing, as far as picture quality. The only thing I did not like about their books was the binding system came damaged on mine. Not very happy with that after what I paid them. They are not cheap but the quality was top notch, which was the most important thing to me.

i have printed at a few different companies, and honestly shutterfly is my fave by far. if you sign up for their emails, they will be forever sending you coupons. the great thing about them is that they will let you combine coupon codes, so you can save 30% plus get free shipping plus get buy 1 get 1 free if you should happen to have all 3 coupons at the same time. one christmas i bought 8 books that cost a total of $40 for all 8 of them. i used a $25 gift card for shutterfly that i had, and only had to pay $15 out of pocket. their quality has always been really good as far as i'm concerned. they're pretty true to color as well. i've never had a single complaint from any of my orders there. this has turned into something i do each year for christmas gifts now.

I use MyPicTales for printing my books.
For several reasons... They print 10 x 10in books (which is the MOST perfect size)
The are afforadable, and their print quality is really pretty good.

Here is some photos of my last printed books:

Thanks for all the help ladies! This has given me a lot to think about. :tu

Lots of good ideas here. I really want to do this but it is such an overwhelming project. Last year I made a 8x8 album just using photos from a trip to the pumpkin patch. It turned out really great but I used a site to print that is geared toward photographers. The quality is great but the price was not! :)

I used Inkubook for a couple books last year. It was affordable because of the 2-for-1 (my books had 180 and 120 pages respectively), if I had to pay full price I wouldn't have ordered from them. The quality was good. The binding is very good.

Your books look great, krista!

I printed several photo books from professional photos we had taken, and I absolutely loved adorama. The quality was superior to any other photo books I have printed.

I have ordered through Shutterfly, Blurb, and Snapfish. Of the three, Shutterfly is my favorite. Just be sure to turn off the vivid pic setting if you edited your images yourself. I have also ordered a few things from Paper Coterie, and their spiral bound books are amazing, although small. The paper is great and the color is amazing as well.
