i am looking to replace my wide format epson printer. it is getting old and just doesn't print as well as it used to. i do not want a multifunction device. does anyone here have a printer that prints decent photos (i do this for school projects and such) and just text? i want to print up to 8/5x11

I have a little tiny Selphy CP 910 that I love for 4x6s and then I just bought a new all-in-one printer/scanner thing. Well, actually I got it for my birthday from my hubby. I know you said you don't want the multi function, but I'm not sure they even make JUST a printer anymore. Anyway, I got the Canon Pixma MG7120 Had I known how nice the 4x6 prints would be on that printer I would have skipped buying the little Selphy. I'm also super excited that it has a separate paper tray to feed in envelopes so my Christmas Cards will be pretty and decorated this year rather than having to rely on the labels like I've had to do the last several years.

I have an HP Photosmart that I got at Costco on sale for $100. I love the printer itself (as in the quality of the prints) but the software is a little hinky and doesn't always play well with my Mac. Oh, and the wifi doesn't work great either, lol. So I half recommend it. #nothelpful

I think if I were to do it again I'd get one of the Canon Pixma's because I always hear great things about them. But the price on mine was so good that I just sort of put up with the quirks. :)

Mine is a multi-function, but it's in their photo printer line, not their multi-function line. At costco it's the HP Photosmart 7525, but if you buy it elsewhere it's the 7520. Same printer, but Costco has it's own model number.

Which Epson do you have and what about it isn't printing well, Celeste? I have an R1900 and haven't been able to print anything in color for some time now. The color, specifically anything red/magenta, skews pretty horribly (HATE it since I do a fair amount of hybrid). I've done everything I can think of to overcome it, and haven't been able to. :(

Karen how often do you go through your ink when you print hybrid? I need a new printer but don't want to break the bank on ink.
