Hi guys!

I organize my photos using folders on my computer... I only have room on my laptop for so many photos. I have a whole bunch of Disney photos and was trying to come up with a way to get the best ones on my laptop for future scrapping.

I'm thinking of organizing them by park and then theme instead of by year, that way all my parade photos are together and so on and so forth. I'm not sure if I'm 100% sold on that idea though. I will still have them all by date on my EHD. I'm just a little unsure.

So as it is my July 2017 trip takes up 62 GB of space.

Thanks!

I organized my photos by Day- since we sorta of park hopped- it was confusing to separate by park for me. Inside each day folder- I added folders for each land/ride so they were quick to find! :) As far as space saving- I have no clue- but I think if you sort them- then you'll know which ones are scrap-worthy & those can go onto your laptop?

I always just organize by trip and then sort by date. This way, I can see cell phone pictures, PhotoPass pictures, and my regular camera pictures that can taken of each moment and choose the ones I like best. For each trip, I go through and make a list of which pictures I want to scrap for that trip... of course, I sometimes don't stick to the list 100% but it is definitely what I work from. I usually pull the folder I am working with off the EHD and put it on my computer. Though, I do tend to scrap an entire trip at a time and don't jump around.

Thanks guys. The thing is, I have all but half of a trip scrapped. I do traditional digiscrapping pages for fun/stress relief, but I hate going through all my photos on the EHD to find ones I like, if that makes any sense.

I have my photos sorted by date on my EHD, that's not gonna change.

I think it's really going to depend on how you are scrapping - are you scrapping by park, by event/activity, or by date? From that point, I would make folders for how you are scrapping so you can find them easily.

I use Lightroom, so I'm not going to be much help with just folders. Good luck!

Could you use tags? That way you could store in folders by year and tag by event - eg, parade - so you can search when required.

When I digiscrap, I tend to do by theme. My pocket style is always by date, but I'm almost caught up with my pocket style books for Disney. I just want to bring some of my photos off the EHD and onto my laptop.

I organize like this:
Disney2016
Day1
Then by category - like MK, Resort, EP so I can see quickly the different things in each day.

When I'm done, I have another file in Disney2016 called "Scrapped". That's where I move everything I've already scrapped so I don't have to keep looking at it!

If there is, I've never figured it out! I just downloaded PSE, so I'm going to give that a go - starting with tagging and then potentially learning it to scrap (I currently use Artisan)

I am probably no help...since I scrap all the pictures. My photos are all uploaded by date. So I go through each day and delete I don't want and any that are similar. My Disney and sanibel trip from this year I am scrapping by day. So I have a note book and I write down the layouts i want for that day. So like...rides, characters, food, misc....and so on depending on the day. And then I just scrap layouts. Each day can have many pages. But I dont care. It will be as long as it will be. Lol!

Is there a way to tag in Windows 10?
I'm a Mac user so I can't test this, but the internet seems to think it works like this:

"Go into your file explorer to the photos you want to tag. Select the picture(s) you wish to tag and right click. At the bottom of the drop-down list, choose Properties. Click the tab marked Details, and under the Description section is a category marked
Tags. Click to the right of this to get the text box open and add your tags. Don't forget to click OK at the bottom once you're done! Searches for tags should then work.

Less intuitive than windows 7, but it seems to be the same system. Hope that helps."

Do you have a second spot you keep the photos? [For moving them off]
Here's how I used to do it (I use Lightroom now).
1) go through photos and delete any that I hate, are blurry, or a few second duplicate that isn't needed (I always end up with some of those at parades). This gives me an idea of what photos I took too.
2) I go back through and copy my absolute favorites to a new folder that is my 'To scrap' photo. I copy - do not move.
3) I glance through the To scrap photo, and make sure nothing is missing (a day, a ride, that one amazing photo) that I want to scrap.
4) I scrap from the To Scrap photo. If I find the page I'm making needs another photo, it's easy to go back to the originals and just grab that moment.
5) after I scrap it, I delete it. This is why it's important to copy, not move, the photos in step 2. This helps me stay on task and know what I scrapped already.
