If you have your layouts printed as books, who do you use? And do you have to do anything different to the files before you upload for books?

I've had a few printed through iPhoto. I absolutely love them (no 12x12 sizes though, sad day). I have had a few of the large size books printed with dust jackets that make for super nice gifts but i have also done a few of the wire bound ones. I faked out iPhoto and after designing a calendar for my best friend i put it in the 5x7 wire bound book and now she has a desktop calendar. I was hoping she would write in it and use it, but she likes it to much she wants to keep it forever.

I've had 3 done through shutterfly and am about to order my 4th, love them!

I too have only used Shutterfly, and it is pretty easy and they turn out great. I don't do anything to them, but when I create my LO's I always keep things that I wouldn't want cut off 1/4" away from the edges!

i have been using a website for printing pictures and i have been very happy with it, they also offer photobooks printing but i haven't tried yet. Actually, i am looking for 8x8 templates as they do not offer any templates for the pages. They have a lot of coupons regularly and i actually have one for 8x8 books. Do any of you know of a place that offers 8x8 templates??
The website is Artscow.com, the prints i got from them are very good and they have good customer service.
i ordered one book from shutterfly and it turned out very nice too!!

PS : If anybody is interested in ordering from that website, please let me refer so i can get free prints!! thanks!!

I will have to check out that site. I haven't seen any 8x8 templates, but you could always take a 12x12 one and resize it to 8x8.

I've used Artscow many times and have been happy with them as well. I've heard some not-so great reviews, but I haven't had any trouble. I've also used Shutterfly and was happy. The one thing I like with Artscow over Shutterfly is that the bindings are stitched on the Artscow books rather than glued. My kids love to look at the books I print, so durability is important to me.

I wrote about Artscow on my blog.

I've only used Shutterfly. I use an action by Wendyzine to prep my layouts for 8x8 books.

I scrap in 12 x 12 and then I resize my layouts to 8 x 8 for printing, if that helps :)

I've used shutterfly & Artscow. I've never been overly thrilled with either. To me getting an 8x8 printed on photopaper looks a lot better. But other than that its good. No problems with either of the books. Artscow gives a lot of free coupons too i dont think i've ever paid full price for anything and all my books have been free. I also got some free mousepads. I should take a pic of mine to show you I am in love with my mousepad :)

hey girls winkflash is having a flatrate book sale until feb 10th. You get 100 12 x 12 for 26.99. Pretty good and shipping isn't bad, 9 dollars to here.

Heather, thanks for the info. Do you have to resize your layouts?

renee, the two 440 page books i've had done are 8x10 one portrait, one landscape.. but they 've started doing 7x7 and i think i'm going to try a 100 pager in that size to see if it's too small...they also have 12x12... but i still think that's TOO big!

Jacque, what size do you print your book?

Wow, that is a great deal Heather. Thanks for sharing. I just got my first Shutterfly book in the mail and I really like it. I can definitely see me buying more of these in the future. I love that it takes up so much less space than the traditional albums.
