Hi everyone.
Melody is going to be 8 at the end of the year (New Year's Eve) and we are having her "friends" party in a couple of weeks.
I have Googled some games, but I wondered if anyone has any fun party game ideas that have been a hit.

The girls are all 8, most are almost 9, poor Melody is the youngest of the bunch.
We have been having some issues with the girls fighting of who is friends with who, so team games are out (generally speaking), for the sake of a peaceful day.
The theme is Sprinkles and Sparkles.

Let me know if you have any ideas!

edit to add game ideas already on my list, probably won't do all of them, lol
  • Donut Game - hang donuts from a tree and they have to try to eat them without using their hands
  • Party Ball - beach ball has questions and actions written all over it and they have to do the one facing them when they catch it
  • Photo Booth with confetto group photo
  • Decorate your own Cupcake
  • Balloon Stomp - tie balloons around their ankles and they have to try to stomp on each others (or just their own, haven't decided yet) also, the balloons have glitter and confetti in them, haha!
  • Guess and Win - small jar filled with candy or small toys, closest guess wins it
  • Telephone Game - (used to be called Chinese Whispers) sit in a circle and whisper the message around and see how much it changes
  • Sweet Sucker - Each person gets a bowl with candy (soft candies or hard ones like mm's), an empty bowl and a straw. They have to move all of their candies from one bowl to the other

What about a big treasure hunt game that they will need to work together to find all items?
The Mannequin Challenge is all the rage at the moment.

Instead of games what about a project?
Decorate Sugar Cookies? There are plenty of sprinkles to be bought for that!
Make jewelry? The Sparkle?

I thought this one was cute to play when my GD comes for a visit this Christmas (I was going to use new bottles as part of a present, then play) and it comes with a cut file:

and I thought these would be fun to make - we love crafting days when we have them:

yep yep, making things
even doing videos
no teams..ugh..
love that fingernail polish one!

maybe i'm too old school but 'dance freeze' or statues - same game different name - is what comes to mind as being DD's fave around that age and still;
we used to do a 'make and take' as well (instead of buying a heap of plastic party bag fillers) to go with a few freddo frogs etc
I love @Danyale's pencil idea! Pinterest is a gold mine!

I thought about a treasure hunt or scavenger hunt, but I think they will still find a way to make it a competition and get catty.
Ah yes, the Mannequin Challenge. That could be fun!! But they get mad at each other for even wiggling a toe! (see below, re Dance freeze and statues, lol)
Yes! We are doing a decorate your own cupcake for them to take home! And we found some sparkly sprinkles to go on them!

I had seen the Nail Polish game! I like it! I think I will add it to my list.
And those fabric pom-pom pens are gorgeous!!

They still enjoy dance freese and statues, but at this age no one is even allowed to wiggle a toe or they get pounced on for moving. Melody's teacher gave up on playing it with the kids in the class because it only started fights. Gosh they are at a frustrating age...
And yes. I am thinking that each girl gets a bag (maybe even decorate them at the beginning as people are arriving) and they can put their winnings and other stuff in them.

These are the games I already have. (edited my first post to add them there too)

i like your list (how long is the party?! but i always find it easier to over-plan and if not everything gets played/done well at least no one had time to be the dreaded B word (bored in this case).
As a family we've played 'minute to win-it' games in the past - there's one using chopsticks to move as many cotton wool balls as you can in 60secs (we used to do less time like 30sec when they were younger) - we put them into a noodle box and DH always overflows the oodle box (the rest of us eat with a fork for chinese!)- it's not team based but if you're googling games and b'days games isn't turning p anything new - try minute to win it instead ;)
