Yesterday, we went to a creek nearby. It is pretty much desert all around and has some good places to target shoot. This is the first time since having the Little's we have brought out guns. (during the foster period, they can not be around guns)
They all got to learn gun safety (my eldest 18, teaching) and did so good. :thumbsups
I haven't shot since 1982! But...
I outshot all them, even my Bigs...just call me Annie Oakley! bhhha

Any other peeps out there that enjoy shooting?

I've never done it, though my mother has gotten into it recently so maybe I'll get the chance on my next visit?

I like shooting at the pretend/arcade range at Bass Pro Shop... does that count? LOL!

My 11 year old is very much into archery, so we are at the range once a week for classes. I really want to take a class of my own after watching him all summer. Not the same kind of shooting, but still shooting. ;)

Hubs and I got into shooting last year. We even took a tactical defense course that basically shows you how to protect yourself in lots of different situations. It was really fun and I really learned a lot about shooting. I was completely green before this and guns really kind of freaked me out. But learning about how to safely handle them really gave me confidence around them.

Now we go shooting at a local range once in a while, just to keep in practice.

Side note: I played Annie Oakley in a school play in middle school. :-)

My whole family (without me) are into archery. We actually bought this house because we could set up a range in our back yard! lol My husband makes bows and arrows! (out of PVC pipe) kinda cool. It is Dad's fun time with kids and mom's alone time!

I am starting a Concealed Carry class in the fall. I used to be scared of guns, but now, I pity the fool (or target) lol and I read so much about Annie Oakley as a kid, how cool to play her

I saw Annie Oakley on Broadway years ago with Bernadette Peters and Tom Wopat. So fun!

Re: shooting. I love to shoot but haven't done it in a while. I lived alone for years prior to getting married in a not-so-great part of town, so bought a gun at the prompting of my then boyfriend. He taught me to use it properly and it went spent a lot of time at the range.

My big boys all like to shoot as well, both guns and bows/arrows. And we have been very careful about teaching them. My oldest (16) explores the woods a lot and will sometimes take along our snake gun. I let the littles shoot arrows but not guns quite yet, but want them comfortable as well when it's appropriate.

We live in Georgia so everyone has guns (translation: an armory) and my DH was infantry so is very good with them. I am a bear about them doing it correctly, but want them to have the skill.

Anne!!! My hubby is gonna be so proud of you! I have gone shooting a few times...not my talent that is for sure. J totally has Dads genes.

I was actually on the rifle team my freshman year of college. just target shooting with air rifles. But it was fun. Haven't done it in years.

for the record, this lady is one of my bestest in real life friends, we have known each other for almost 20 years!! next door neighbors and serve Jesus together at the same church! I am beyond buzzed to have her back scrapping and especially here at the Lily Pad!

I am an excellent shoot- I was in an enforcement unit team for years here in the UK- worked with the Met & Customs & Excise... had a warrant card - so yes...I'm a good shoot.
I'm also black belt Tae Kwon Do-
I can't use martial arts anymore but I have the crutches and they hit as hard as my legs used to

:giggle

Having said all this....
I have to say I am totally and completely against guns -
Have seen too much damage being done :(

I have never held or shot a gun. I remember my father having a rifle when I was a kid but I was never allowed to touch it. Target practice sounds like fun!

... I'm also a black belt in Tae Kwon Do ...

Serious, Cynthia?! Me too! What style? I am an aspiring Fourth Degree in Songham Tae Kwon Do, and a member of the ATA. :)

As for shooting ... I LOVE to shoot, and am a pretty decent shot. I have a not so standard rifle that belonged to my BIL, my sister gave it to me after he passed away in 2012. She also gave hubby a few from his collection. Lately I've been eyeing a particular Glock, hoping I'll be able to get it for Christmas. :)

I shoot targets when I'm visiting my mom and step-dad. We ( Dh, girls and I ) only shoot targets, no hunting. I don't want a gun in my house so it's strictly a recreational thing. They have private outdoor ranges, so it's really convenient. My step-dad is a retired colonel and enthusiast, he has a wide, wide variety of firearms. He restores and loads his own bullets, he's really into old muskets and muzzle loaders, it's interesting ( for about 10 minutes LOL ). My girls are great shots, really good and enjoy it very much. My mom and I took a class together and got to skeet shoot clay which i thought was really fun, but hard, I wasn't very good at that at all.

We can't have guns in Oz without jumping through hoops and I wouldn't have one if we could have one easily .........

BUT that said, when I was in the Army Reserve I was considered to be a very good shot with the SLR. I was the top female shooter in my basic training course and I have been know to kick my brothers butt (he won a sharp shooter comp in the Army) :). On a memorable live-fire exercise I had the great fun of firing a Carl Gustav anti-tank weapon (HUGE boooomb and I blew out the side of a truck weeee!). The smaller pop out anti-tank ones weren't as impressive after firing that bad-boy but I did manage to hit my target each time. I missed out on throwing a live grenade though as the firing range closed as our transport arrived. I was super excited about throwing a grenade as they didn't normally let women do it (shorter throwing distance apparently!) but they had given us the green light this weekend ... I was so mad when we got there late!

I am either scared or uncomfortable around guns, not quite sure which one it is. My brother is a police officer and I will not stand on his gun side if he happens to pop over while on duty.

I can wield a mean hockey stick if needed though :)

Please don't carry your rifle into Target. :giggle

Wasn't Jen implying that might be okay in Georgia :giggle

I've personally never shot one, not really comfortable around them but that's because I don't have any knowledge about them. My son being a boy scout has shot from arrows to shot guns for years. Turns out in cub scouts (where siblings get to go, too) that his sister was the best shot of the two. He's had a lot more practice over the years but she's still pretty good. At Philmont, the rangers play a target shooting game called Annie Oakley and he won a few times this summer.

As my daughter's boyfriend is now in the Police Academy it looks like she'll probably be around a lot of police officers and in turn, guns but she has learned gun safety from her father and I imagine will learn even more from the aspiring officer in our "family".

yeapers, we are real life friends for many, many years. for the record...Anne is in real life as she is on the web.

That's awesome Anne! I don't shoot often, just a few times over the years, but I always surprise myself how well I can shoot the clay pigeons. So fun!
