Pad Patter 7/28 - Back to School

Mine doesn't go back until after Labor Day. The local stores have shopping lists and then his Jr High has this (overpriced) binder system that we have to purchase through them. I'd rather buy our own binder and guts because the items they supply are sort of cheap and don't withstand my son's abuse for the entire year. But it is what it is...

I had to go check and see when our start date is. August 26 – 8 weeks down, 4 to go! It's flying so far!

We can buy our own supplies, but we usually opt to buy a packet through the PTA. They do them as a fundraiser, and they usually run about $40 to $55, depending on what the grade level requires.

For the first time this year, the middle school offered the option of buying everything except the binder, which we chose, because DD wants a zippered binder, and the cheapo regular ones they use fell apart quickly for DS when he was there.

DS will be attending a brand new project-based STEAM academy high school, with a brand new curriculum. They haven't released a supply list yet. Hopefully they will soon so we have a chance to hit the sales and stock up before everything gets too picked over around here.

My kids start after Labor Day. We've seen all the back to school sales starting up, but I haven't started buying anything yet. We have our tax free weekend coming up soon, so I'll wait until then most likely. Our schools post lists online and at Target/Walmart so we grab a list and go by it. I love office supplies, so it's all good. ;)

Ugh. All the BTS commercials are driving me nuts! I don't need a reminder that vacation is almost over.

It's at Gymboree, Lynette! My DD is big for her age, so this is her last year being in 'T' clothing. I just don't think the bigger gurls' clothing is as cute, so I'm stocking up now before she has to wear that size!!

I also love, love, love this company's clothing & this outfit, but not for first day of school since it would be too hot:

The new school year starts for my kids TOMORROW! yeef! where did summer go? i have no idea :shrug

No, the school does NOT provide the supplies. They post a list for each grade, and we go buy them. I think for all 3 kids I spent around $150 total... $50 per kid average! blech! Then, in a few months, we will be billed an additional nearly $400 for book usage fees. $400 for books they don't even get to keep. *shakes head* :dizzy

We go back on the 15th. I am not ready...we've enjoyed the summer so much and I've loved having my kids home.

Our shopping is basically done too, so we're just soaking in the last bit of vaca.
