I'm in the process of painting my basement and it has become clear that it is where I hide all my crap.

How about you? Basement? Closet? Spare bedroom? Or are you someone who doesn't actually save stuff for no reason?

sadly ... all of the above. at least we tackled the garage, not that long ago, and threw out tons of junk. i honestly don't know where it all comes from or why i feel some of it has to stay.

good luck with the painting. that's quite the task.

I don't have a basement or garage, so it all ends up either in my laundry room, or in the building out back. I did clean out both this summer and it felt sooo good!

We have a huge open and unfinished section of our basement where my laundry is and there is a row of shelves along one whole wall. Those shelves are piled with more junk than should be legal. We have boxes there that probably haven't been opened in 10 years, but we still keep 'em. But, it's out of sight, out of mind down there.

ummmm....yeah i don't hide my stuff...it's everywhere. :(

basement. But it's unfinished so nobody really goes down there. It's all organized on shelves, though for the most part. The kids have a lego station set up down there, so they (and their friends) see it, but I'm not concerned about kids seeing all that mess. ;)

That said, after so many moves, we've learned to get rid of stuff. Neither my husband nor I are really sentimental when it comes to "things". There are a couple of things that I don't want to part with, but not a lot.

i'm a uncluttered kinda gal, after the recent remodel, I find I actually have empty shelves in closets and the garage is neat and tidy, just the way I like it.

One of the great things about living overseas is that all that stuff you don't know what to do with and "can't" throw out gets to hide in someone else's house (snicker) back "home" in the States.

That being said, most of the extras that are with us go under one of the many beds. Once it starts overflowing there, we downsize. They just don't make closets and garages here so we had to learn to be picky really quick.

Good question! A corner of my basement just about qualifies for an episode of "Hoarders" LOL. I have bins, boxes, bags, stacks....of whatever doesn't fit somewhere else in the house. Taz gets in there sometimes and has a hay day....just grabbing and pulling stuff down and racing around with it. Most of it can probably be tossed at some point, I just need to get in there and organize it for the charities and garbage, plus figuring out where to put the stuff I want to keep. I find I am purging more and more and it feels good. Someday I will get that corner of the basement cleaned out (especially since we want to sell our house over the next few years).

Basement. It is a good 1,000sq and it is unusable right now. I know... shame on me!

My closet is packed full of stuff. That's probably where I hoard most! We are living in a small-ish condo right now and I've had to downsize A LOT. Yet, my closets are packed to the gills!

We were rearranging our bedroom last night and trying to sort through all the mess and my husband looks at me and says, we are kinda hoarders. It goes in the closet, under the bed, anywhere that I don't have to look at it and see it in a pile and I like to think that my house is magically uncluttered.

my garage is where all my crap goes ... but while my car still fits I call it GOOD and not clutered at all .... really its not :D

well..... I have a shed downstairs, which, funnily enough, we started trying to empty this week , got a car boot full of stuff gone to the charity shop, and we have barely cleared 1 meter in the entrance....
I watch hoarders to feel that my life is great......

But that is stuff that I send downstairs when re decorating or tiding up...I'm reluctant to chuck away stuff that Sarita may like in the future, or stuff that can be sold....thing is I never get to do anything so I got to the point I need to clear up

now about HIDING......
sometimes I move things out of their place so I will REMEMBER they are there....and then spent days looking for them because I can't remember where I put them
:groan

:giggle

I admit my bedroom looks like something out of hoarders. It's all clothes. I have an obsession. I have 4 dressers of my own & no time/energy to organize them. So, there's usually a mountain of clothes in my room. No food or dirty stuff. Just a big pile of clean clothes.

I try not to hold on to anything I know I won't use but most stuff either hangs out in my craft room or in the garage.
