Does anyone do anything like Christmas in July?

Alternately, do you already have a Christmas wish list started? Or any holiday prep/shopping you do early in the year? :giggle

We don't do anything like Christmas in July.

But... I always have a list going for Christmas shopping. I have lists for my husband and kids going in my memos on my phone... after Christmas I clear them off and add things throughout the year as they mention things they like or need. By shopping time they may have already gotten some of the things or just not interested anymore, but it does give me a good starting point.

My birthday is just four days after Christmas, so I have to have a double list for family... I jot things down on it all year and then edit it before giving it out in December.

I also have a Christmas shopping app on my phone that I use each year... as I buy things throughout the year, the purchases go there, so I have a running total of what I've spent and who I've bought for already. The app is a lifesaver because I occasionally lose presents in the house (I hide them too well) when I shop early :whistle

I am thinking about it as we are now in winter and it is good to be able to have hot Christmas food for once.

No, but I did notice the Christmas decorations out in Hobby Lobby when I was there last week. Maybe I should be planning ahead but I cannot get into the spirit of it in July.

Its lovely and cold here today (the Antarctic Vortex is arriving this afternoon/evening) so a yummy hot Christmas in July dinner with all the trimmings is sounding pretty good to me right now :D

I'd love to know what app you're using. This sounds awesome to me!

We don't have Christmas in July... but I really should start shopping now and getting ahead of the game. I always say that right when I am searching for the last gifts!

I seriously thought "Christmas in July" was just an excuse for retail stores to have a sale in the middle of summer. I didn't think it was something that people actually did.

A few years ago, we went to an international Santa congress, and Dagmar thought it was super funny to see a bunch of Santas wandering around, but it was not actually that interesting. They do it every year in July, but we haven't been back.

Karen... I'm not ignoring you... I promise!! I can't find the app anymore! They don't seem to offer it in the app store anymore (I've been using it for probably five years now)... but I did see some that were similar. One of the features I really like, is that it is password protected. Makes it harder to snoop that way :-) I'm tempted to look at some of the new apps, but I'm all set up in the old one already. I have lists for each kid, divided up by general, stocking and "santa". Plus lists for all of our family members that we shop for. It really keeps me organized.

i actively avoid thinking about Christmas or winter for that matter in the beautiful summer time. it is my fave time of year and i do not like the cold so Christmas is deftly off my radar this time of year!

Tracie that app sounds awesome though. would love the divided lists and running totals. will have to check some out when i do get into the spirit. probably october, lol!

eek!! I don't want to think about Christmas yet. I read somewhere there are 19 Fridays left before Christmas.
