Pad Patter 7/10- I'm GREEN but not with ENVY

I recycle and compost everything I possibly can! I feel that the statistics on consumption and waste are astounding and we have a responsibility to the earth to lessen the load <3

I also feel that the availability of services shouldn't be so much of a pain too, when people feel it's not worth their time, that's not good.

I am lucky that I live in a part of the world where they pick up plastic every 2 weeks in the 'yellow bags', compost pickup weekly in the summer, garbage that you pay yearly for the amount of 'liters' of you through away and for our house of 2 children 3 adults is about 20liters ever two weeks which is like 2 small grocery bags or less, and cardboard / paper once a month.

Germany also has a good can/bottle program - you pay deposits and it's usually .25 cents so that is a lot of money to through away hehe

We also have lots of glass bins spread out around communities to toss the glass that don't have deposits.

Coming from Ontario Canada, I think Germany is doing a good thing :)

that's great Anne!!!!!

we don't get anything, they even charge you to take away old fridges or cookers if you don't dispose correctly....
But I try recycling as much as I can- glass, paper, cans, plastic...these days the recycling bins are mixed so not much hustle.... but I'm not terribly obsessed....

Yes we recycle, as much as possible ,but not fanatically . We have recycle pick up 2 times a week, (plastic, aluminium ,paper ) glass we have to take to bottle banks. No one pays us for this, (sadly) on the contrary if we put regular garbage out on recycle days we can get a fine.(round 50 dollars) But we have good bring in sites for all sorts of things, and bulky refuse gets collected free, so all in all Malta is a lot greener than it was just 10 years ago.

Wow, that's fantastic! Ottawa has come a long way even since we moved here in 2000. I really should start composting, they pick up every week. I think about it everytime I throw something out that should be composted. We just don't have a place for the small indoor bin, our kitchen is tiny with not a lot of cupboard room :(

I recycle aluminum cans, plastic bottles, bags from the grocery as receptacles for dirty diapers, newspapers, ink cartridges, batteries, & then computer equip and clothes to the local GoodWill.
