okay, I am looking for company of misery
:tantrum
most of ya'll know I live in the desert-water is pretty scarce
so is green grass
we have a dirt (one day will be rocks in a decorative way)
but the back yard is grass, and I pay premium to keep it that way! :dizzy
it is cooler, and we live out there in the summer practically
:cryMy water bill can hit $200 if I am not careful?:hissy
to be fair this is water/sewer and garbage pickup and I do 20 loads of laundry a week on average
:laundry:laundry:laundry:laundry:laundry:laundry:laundry:laundry:laundry:laundry
:laundry:laundry:laundry:laundry:laundry:laundry:laundry:laundry:laundry:laundry
I am curious about your watering and how much water is in different parts of the scrap world!?! :rollin

I feel your pain, Anne, as I'm right there with you!!! My front is all rocks, but I'm trying to keep the back green and it is HARD WORK and pretty expensive, too.

I think it's funny that you spend so much to keep your green grass Anne when my hubby's dream was to concrete our entire backyard so he wouldn't have to mow back in the day. He seriously was thinking about it. Ummmm...no.

Here we don't have any problems with water availability and I guess it's relatively cheap. But here in Ohio we do have a major river on one side that we draw from along with lots of aquifers and some pretty big lakes up at the other end of the state.

I honestly don't have any idea what our water bill is, as we don't technically have one. We live in a state park (my hubby is the district supervisor) and since we live with the state park and campground basically in our backyard, we are on the same water line as the park and we don't have a separate bill. It's one perk of living there I guess. :lol We have a sprinkler system (hubby installed it himself) and we do use that three times a week. We have a really nice lawn now that Eric has killed it all off once and reseeded that sucker twice!

$200 for water? Oh, my, Anne! It pains me to tell you that I pay ... $0. We are on a well so there isn't any charge for water. And our water is so good! MUCH better than city water. :) :)

here in central indiana, we have grass in our whole yard (except where the dogs have killed it off). we don't water often, to be honest...much to our neighbors' demise!! Our neighbors have a sprinkler system that goes off 2 times every day. It's a bit much, if you ask me. But I'll give it to them - their yard is beautifully green and plush. we do what we can to keep the grass healthy, but when drought kicks in mid-summer, there's no point. I'm just NOT spending hundreds on our water bill.

Mostly I got stuck on the 20 loads of laundry.. *jaw drops* .. our water bill is combined with our power and it averages to $140/month year round.. and our lawn never looks good, lol.. We're bad at remembering to water :dizzy

wowzer Anne! That's crazy. We just paid our bill for the month and it was £32 for the two of us and a small cat for water coming in and waste water going out (our rubbish collections are covered by our Council Tax) - that's about $55!

that actually goes down in the summer (thank you for shorts and no heavy jeans)! I have boys in football, girls in swimming and am a freak a zoid on clean sheets/towels!

Yeah.. we just walk around in our filth.. it's cool.. ;) I kid.. :giggle

We pay about $225 per year for irrigation water for the sprinklers and basically water as much as we want.

I think ours is about $200 per quarter in the summer and less in the winter. We water every other day in the summer because my hubby likes to have carpet looking grass to keep up with the neighbors. :) I think it's kind of silly to pay even that much for water, but it makes him happy, so... that's what we do.

We rarely water, unless we have a long stretch without rain. We do have an in-ground sprinkler system and I love it. But we pay $75 each fall to get it blown out otherwise it would freeze and crack during the winter (we're Zone 3 here, so a low of -40C/F is pretty much as low as it gets around here. Our summers are nice, with breeze and refreshing rain every so often, and warm weather mainly, hardly ever too hot. I love our climate.

Not sure what our water bill is, though.

Ours is about $200 but we're five people and have a veggie garden to keep alive too. Get this, a suburb near here is only allowed to water their yards ONCE A MONTH due to water restrictions. No washing your car, no washing your windows, no sprinklers...I think you can hand water and water new landscaping but that's it. Mid-summer here looks like winter in other places. We've only had 8 inches of rain this year. Sorry Houston, but I need a hurricane to head that way and float on up to Ft.Worth.

I feel your pain Anne! We are currently off heavy water restrictions but during times of drought (too often to list), we can't water lawns, wash cars, windows etc...

Our water bill is combined with our garbage collection and is about $300 a quarter, goes up a lot if you use excessive water. We have a couple of tanks for the garden and flushing the toilet.

our average rainfall is about 600mm per year - about 23 inches, during the drought years we were getting a lot less than half of that - has been reasonable the past 2 years, we appreciate rain so very much.

We never water the lawn...it's not gorgeous, but it's all green :) Our water bill averages around $40 a month and then another $40 a month for sewer. It sometimes goes a little higher in summer when we are washing cars and playing in the hose :) It, and my laundry, have gone down considerably since 2 of the 3 children are not living here anymore LOL.

i would be ashamed to show you my garden, between the trampoline and a loopy dog that thinks its cool to spin round in circles our grass is dead!

We also do a lot of washing and showers take up the water we are unmonitored so get as much as we like but i pay £50 a month for it

I live in the north west of England, I *never* have to water my lawn - Mother Nature takes take of that for me! We pay £45 a month for water (about $75 USD)

I'll trade ya some dirt for a day of rain that we've had here. Seems like we've been dumped on every. stinking. day.!!!!!! I'll regret saying those words later this summer when we're in a burn ban or in the middle of a heatwave! :)

We never water our grass, just the garden in drought type weather. We do pay for a lawn treatment service though so that adds cost. Now the laundry I don't envy. With all of the kids gone, I can let it sit for a week.
