I do almost all my bills thru my bank online, except for my Cell PHONE, I have to go directly to them or they lose my money!
Our water is thru our city, and I pay them directly, because my hubby works in the same building.
Do you use your online banking for bills?

I hate going into the bank and/or waiting in line. I do ALL banking online.

If someone loses my money I follow the principal my mother taught me long ago. Never hit anyone, it's not nice. But if someone hits you, hit them back hard enough that they think twice before doing it again. Generally companies only lose my money once, and they give it back if that happens.

I also use the baseball rule. Screw up my account three times and your out.

I only go into my bank if I need to exchange Canadian over to U.S. for a little shopping trip and with the exchange rate those are definitely fewer, lol.

My cheque is direct deposit, most of my household bills are automatic withdrawal and I pay my cell phone and credit card using online banking.

Everything is online, except the before care costs at school. That I have to write a check for... I dislike it every month. Even if the company is not online bill pay..... my bank writes/sends the check, and all is paid.

Everything is online, and direct deposit. I hardly carry cash... unless I know I might need it for an outing or something. For that, I go to an ATM... never in line at the bank, lol!

I honestly wouldn't know how to pay a bill here not online or with MobilePay.

I try to operate with cash as much as possible. I use old fashioned checks because I have a grandfathered account where I have NO service charges and free checks for life. My daughters kids me that I'm one of only 4 people still using checks. I do not bank online because I believe it's only a matter of time before the hackers get all our money. My husband does all the bills and I know he's not online, he constantly has to ask me how to use his smart phone and the DVD remote. I've never used an ATM either.

Goodness Gracious. My husband is the same, but as much as I hate to tell you this, if the hackers get all our money - they will whether we are banking online or not. The banks bank electronically. No one is safe. I do carry cash and I have a very small limit credit card I use for online purchases, but since the banks take all the responsibility, I go for the convenience.

yes, it could happen to anyone as, as you well said, banks operate electronically.
but I am not giving destiny a greater opportunity-
the way I see it, if someone hacks my email or my computer and gets access to my bank account, when I go to the bank, they may not give me a penny back-
If the hackers hack the bank but I never did anything to allow anyone a closer look to my accounts, I run less risk...not sure if I'm explaining myself well....
I have a Pay Pal account, is with a credit card, because if someone gets my credit card, wont be getting the money I own, and is safer for me...again, may not make sense to you but it does in my mind, especially after seeing some friends of mine being victims of online fraud/hacks and how much they suffered with their banks, and in some cases got nothing back :(

If someone hacks the bank, they'll have access to anyone's account. Further, if the drain the bank, everyone is affected. They don't need to access individual accounts. It's not like everyone's money is separated.

I know Lorry, but I have seen friends of mine suffering because their accounts have been hacked...why would I put myself into a position that can happen to me when I dont need to?
I go to the bank once in a blue moon, and dont even need to go if I dont want to, I can look at my balance at the petrol station and I pay all my bills there too, or by direct debit........
it is more likely that an individiual gets hacked than the whole bank....

Direct deposit and online bill payment here. The only check I write each month is to the hairdresser. I'm at the bank several times each week, but it's for making cash deposits for work. I can even deposit checks for work at my desk with one of those check scanners which makes it really convenient.

I do carry a little cash with me, up to about $60 or $80 for lunch and stuff and replenish at the ATM on one of my work banking stops.

Everything online!

Our bank is super vigilant, apparently hackers like to take out a small amount first and then hit you for a big taking. Our bank rang us to let us know an unusual small amount had gone out to an unknown party, turned out to be a hacker. We got the amount back straight away (it was less than $10) and the account was changed. Our friends were also hacked, someone tried to book a holiday overseas with their credit card, so the bank rang them to check to see if that was right. the transaction was stopped and the account protected.

Love online banking, can remember traipsing around paying bills in person with small children in tow - never again I hope!

i do online banking too. although there is still the occasional check required.
