pad patter: 5/5 What color is your toilet? What???

Oh my goodness - I'm dying over this thread!! So timely for me. In November we redid our small bathroom with the BURGANDY toilet... little did I know it is probably worth something! Though let's be honest, nowhere near as cool as the mint toilet. Too bad we just threw it in the garbage, along with the matching burgandy sink. This is a pic from about 5 years ago:

Now our main bathroom has a lovely pink toilet, which I would also love to replace. Similar to you Anne... the lid is white because SOMEONE *cough me cough* slammed the lid once in a moment of anger and it broke. WHOOPS. And it's like you said, you can't just run to home depot and buy a new matching pink lid...

I do find the red one more unnerving than most other colours for a toilet.....

But my real question is why is this little kid cleaning the toilet while eating a sucker.....

Wow... I feel really boring!! We have white toilets that we installed when we built the house. Y'all are much more fashion forward! :)

LOL yes I was wondering if anyone would comment... the kid has two hands though, so it works right? Really he just saw me doing it and asked to try for a second, so I snapped a photo. I promise there was no cross contamination :)

If you call 1951 fashion forward, then sure! (our house was built in '51)

Lynnette... made me giggle... and reminded me of the Pantone Color of the Year! Lots of money for a toilet in that color!

:giggle

I wonder if someone raided Lynnette's trash and sold her toilet on eBay for megabucks.

We should definitely add flushers to this thread as well. In my experience, until recently with these low flow modern job, all the toilets I'd ever seen had a handle on the left side of the front of the tank. The first trip I took to Europe some twenty years ago was an amazement to me.. It became a real challenge to figure out how the darn thing was supposed to work. Some had tanks high up with pull chains or levers, some had push or pull buttons in the top of the tank, I even saw one with a kind of lever on the wall, which seemed oddly out of place. I was so enthralled I thought I should write a book called Flushers of Europe.... Then on a trip to Australia, believe it or not I actually saw a book on the same subject! To be fair, it encompassed toilets of the world, but still...

Just for you, Lindzee! Our fancy Euroflusher:

haha - white toilets chez moi, but this thread is too funny!

i lived in a 1930's apartment for about 4 years - but now i cannot remember the color of the toilet ?! it was either white or green, because i do remember the original tiles that were light green with a dark green accent.

the apartment also had the original oven/stove - it was so cool and actually worked really well!

That is amazing Laura! I can't imagine how many of those have been taken to the dump over the years. In the 1950's house I grew up in we had a blue one and a brown one. Now we have white of course, but low flow and oh so much trouble. I'm always bringing in the plunger, especially for the boys who think they still need wet wipes and LOTS of them. Now there's a question for you. Do you keep wet wipes (for example, Pamper's wipes) in the bathroom or just plain old TP, we have both and from what I understand a lot of people are using the wet wipes these days? So newer is not necessarily better! AB May has talked to us about replacing at least the one on the main floor with a power flusher, but they want $650.00 for those babies!

ok Anne...

That's a squat toilet. You squat over it, just like it sounds. It's actually a lot healthier!

TP. Honestly, I don't believe the packaging on ones that claim to be flushable. Even the "flushable" ones are worse than TP and ticks plumbers off. Plus the expense! Wouldn't it make more sense to get a bidet toilet seat or attachment?

We've only ever had white, but there was a lady across the street growing up who had a red and black bathroom with all black fixtures and I think she also had one with all purple.
