Today I'm assisting with a charity event to raise money for a 3 y/o who recently has a double lung transplant. It feels good to help a family.

Do you volunteer and what inspires you to help someone else?

I do volunteer - I'm on 2 different boards, Girl Scout leader, summer camp nurse (although my kids get to come along, so I suppose it's not completely altruistic on this one), yearbook coordinator at my DD's school, host family for Chinese students for my DS's school... I do it because I believe it needs to happen. I find that once you get involved it's easy to get pegged to help again and again, so it's important to know how to say no also. I do it to set an example for my kids and I also think that it helps me grow and learn too.

I volunteer in my children's classrooms, and that keeps me pretty busy! I go in once a week and find all the stuff like making copies, cutting out stuff for art projects, or help with reading or math activities. I like knowing that I'm taking a small load off for the teachers. They work so hard and I feel good contributing, even if my contribution is small.

I volunteer at my son's school....both in his classroom and in the office. I read with the kiddos and do various projects for the teachers that need help....I also help out with various activities at school like the carnival, art show and a few others. I wish I could volunteer more but as long as I still have a little one at home I'll take the time I do have to volunteer!!
