Do you know how to swim? Do you ever for fun? Like lap swimming or just frolicking about?

I was always a "I could swim if my life depended on it, but I would never do it for fun" type. I took some lessons last year to where I'm FAR FAR more comfortable with it, and can swim a mile instead of 10 feet. But I still wouldn't go so far as to say I enjoy it. :giggle

I do love being in the water. Just not the actual swimming part.

I can swim if I have too but since I discovered that I can float with no effort, in fact I find it hard to stay underwater at all without bobbing to the top, I spend most of my time in the pool floating on my back looking at the sky :D

I looooove swimming :) I absolutely love it! Which sure comes in handy with my life-long fight with managing my weight :) I lap swim to manage my weight, love just being in the water as well..., can spend my whole day there if I didn't have to do anything else :)

i love swimming! i grew up swimming on swim teams and now swim with a masters team, although i don't go to practices as often as i should (!!). i've done a couple of triathlons and the swim is by far my favorite part LOL - i love open water swims! i love love love the water - it's my happy place ... i could hang out at the pool all.day.long and i really miss living in CA and having the beach two blocks away.

I am terrified of water, ever since I was born (that's what my mom says). I try to "deal with it" in front of Bianca.

I can swim 10 feet - but no where near a mile - this is what is holding me back from a triathalon. I really should take some lessons that teach me proper form and stroke.

I love to swim. We always had a pool growing up. I am sure I don't have correct form when swimming, but I can swim and am very comfortable in the water....but I don't like going off diving boards!!

One of my dreams was to go diving off the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.....I did that 10 years ago. I also jumped in the middle of the ocean and swam with dolphins in New Zealand.

I'm like Amanda... naturally buoyant! I am a self taught swimmer so it isn't pretty. hahaha My dad has a tremendous fear of swimming. He cannot swim a lick! Get this... he worked offshore for more than 20 years. :O We always went swimming with my mom or with friends/family.
I was certified for diving after meeting DH, a master diver, and am pretty comfortable "under" the water. :giggle If I am swimming in our pool I am usually on a noodle or float. I do swim better under water or on my back as opposed to butterfly, breaststroke or freestyle swimming.

My parents made us sign up for lots of swim lessons when we were kids. We spent summers at the town pool. But I hardly ever get to swim anymore. I kind of miss it.

I wish I was (how did Trista put it?) naturally buoyant. LOL!!!

I love to be in the water, but I don't swim a lot. It's harder with little kids you have to stay close too. No one in my husband's family swims. I taught my 7 year old how a few summers ago and she loves to brag about how she swims and Daddy can't!

gotta love kids! LOL!!!!

I love that .. naturally buoyant... yes thats me! Mind you, it can be inconvenient at times Dalis ... especially when you are floating peacefully on your back having a little nap and the kids decide that they can use you as a flotation device ... both of them at once! lol

Both my kids have had swimming lessons through-out their childhood .. it is pretty important here in Australia as nearly every second person has a pool. My smallest still has swim club each Friday night in season. So they both swim much better than me ... hubby used to be a lifesaver in the day hehe (can't imagine it now though lol)

I love water of any kind, and it is the first thing we do with all our kids. Get them to love and respect water.
We swim most of the summer away, and today, my baby (sniff sniff) last one to do it...at age 4 did a flip off the diving board...
he so looks like a pollywog when he swims...makes me giggle!

LOVE swimming in the pool, in the lake, in the ocean...anywhere water-friendly. I usually can't do lap swimming because there are too many children around, but I enjoy just, as you said, frolicking.

I like swimming in a pool, but I don't like swimming in a lake where I can't see the bottom. Both my kids swim better than me - one is taking Red Cross Level 4 and the other is taking level 7 this summer. But I still make then wear life jackets when they go out in a boat, or when they are swimming in a lake. They don't have the experience to judge when they are getting tired yet.

I didn't learn to swim until just a few years ago. I sort of taught myself to doggie paddle, but never had formal lessons. Back in 2006, dh and I took swim lessons at our local Y. It was very humbling to take lessons as an adult, but I'm so glad I did. Up until we had our kids, I went once a week to swim for exercise. I'm not super fast, but I do have good form and it's great exercise. I need to get back in the pool again now that the kids are all school.

I've been swimming since I was seven, but just for fun. Never for sport. I much prefer sitting in the water in a tube and watching the world as I float. If I could have a book and something to drink that would be perfect. I love going to the pool or water parks with my family. I just find me some shade and send them off to play. I get my book and a bottle of water and read until I get hot. Then I get in the water for five minutes, then repeat reading... and repeat until the family is ready to go home.

I love the water and can swim, but I can't do any strokes or anything proper. I swim much better under water for sure. I'm also a certified scuba diver, so definitely comfortable under the water and can tread water for a long time.
