Pad Patter: 5/27 Can u swim? do you?

We all love the water. My DH was a lifeguard and water safety instructor, we made our kids take lessons from about the age of three. I can swim, enjoy being in and near water but I'm not a strong swimmer, I get around fine and I'm not fearful of drowning but my strokes aren't pretty LOL

Yes we can swim but don't do it often enough, gabbi is currently having swimming lessons and enjoys them

I love swimming! I am so happy we have a pool in our back yard too; I swim almost every day weather permitted! :)

God yes.. I am like a fish in the water!
i was on the swim team growing up :P and was a life guard for a few years.. even taught some swim lessons. I could live in the pool in the summer.. and plan to this summer durring my free time

Love to swim! I, too, was on the swim team back in my teen years! All the kids swim like fish and now the grandbabies are learning to swim.

Yes. Growing up on the river learning to swim was a must. Same with DH. Our kids also know how to swim and are very good. We've always had an above-ground pool so they learned very early. Swimming lessons in the summer as well and their summer program takes them to the pool 4 days a week.

I also have a huge fear of drowning - both for myself and them. A girl I know drowned in a lake near us a few years ago and it scares me so badly. So, I'm a psycho mom about them being in the pool alone.

Have always lived near the sea, both in Denmark and here, so yes,- don't know if I am a fish though, but definitely a tiny hopper of some sort.- Can't wait for the sea to get warm enough.

Here in Central Florida, they really try and get everyone to learn to swim. They have all kinds of early swimming type programs for infants to teach them. Seems like almost every other house has a pool down here and it's heartbreaking to hear about the toddlers falling in. The classes are to teach them to roll over and float so they won't drown. I grew up in a house with a pool and have one myself now. Hate the darn thing as it's a lot of work but it's here.

NOT EVEN TO SAVE MYSELF! Of course I am convinced Bianca needs to learn. Mind you I am totally afraid of water, the last few years I have done a remarkable improvement and it is all thanks to Bianca. I am trying to show her not to be afraid of water so I have to walk the walk and talk the talk.

I swam as a kid, but I was never great at it. In my teens and early 20's I had two bad incidents that were scary for me, so since then I will only swim in water that I can stand up in. One incident was in a lake where I swam far beyond my ability (to keep up with the other kids) and by the time I pulled myself to shore, I was vomiting from swallowing water. The other incident was water rafting with a guide and the whole raft flipped over and we all fell out.

My kids love to play in the water, but they've barely had any swimming lessons. Unless they are practicing swimming with my husband, he makes them wear life vests. It's safe, but not really helping them to become swimmers. I hope we work on getting them to really swim (with proper technique) more this summer.

I love swimming, but I really hate wearing a bathing suit! I haven't been to the pool or in the ocean in a few years.

We all can swim. And it was very important for me that my kids learned swimming before starting school.
There are so many accidents with kids who can't swim!

I can but I don't :D ... I am way too lazy. I am a crazy floater though and i can't seem to sink so I don't really have to swim haha
