Who does your yard work, if you have one? Do you do bare minimums, or do you have an elaborate systems of gardens?

I have an built a bunch of gardens, but I'm not sure I keep up with them like I am supposed to. LOL. I actually like working outside and stuff, but time!!! I try to at least keep the front of the house looking pretty.

I do all the gardening, and all of the front mowing. I make the teenagers do the back mowing.

Dusty is supposed to do the yard work so it mainly gets the bare minimum lol. One of these days, we'll have a pretty yard.

John does the mowing and most of the weeding. I weed when I can. We just did a major backyard remodel the end of last summer, and it was the best money we ever spent!! Progression:

Building the fence about a week after we moved in:

I really, really enjoy gardening and so does my husband. We do the vegetable garden together. We also have a butterfly garden that the kids help us with. For the flower beds around the house, I do the majority of planting. We're lucky enough to have an irrigation system so the watering isn't too much of a chore. DH does most of the heavy clean up in those beds. For the grass, we have a mowing service.

We LOVE it. Got rid of about half the grass, and it took care of the awkward steep slope in that part of the yard. We also have a small plug in water feature and an outdoor speaker, so it's a little oasis. And since it faces straight west we installed a sun screen last month to counteract the afternoon sun. We've considered doing more to the remainder of the yard but we're not sure what we want to do

My dh is charge of the yard/grass. I am in charge of all the planting beds/flowers, weeding, etc. We collaborate on trees, etc. because a lot of stuff is either too high or heavy for me in that regard.

We hire it out. Hubs doesn't like to deal with the mowing after working and I just really don't enjoy doing planting/gardening type stuff. This is our compromise. We don't even own a mower...that's how dedicated DH is to not doing it.

My DH does the mowing on his riding mower. He is very particular. But we are old enough that we don't do much more. Can't get down, etc. We need to replant the perennials and we're talking about that now. We'll get someone to do it. I used to love to garden and loved having a vegetable garden.

DH is obsessed with the yard. It's ridiculous. I can't tell you the hours and hours he has spent outside, and to me, it looks like hardly anything has gotten done. He still has all the vegetables to plant and most of his flowers, and he spends an average of 10-15 hours outside each week including mowing.

I don't do a thing outside.

My DH takes care of the mowing and most of the yard work in general. I help out with the mulch and planting things. And watering them. ;) We just planted a vegetable garden for the first time this year, so that's been a fun collaborative effort.

We have about an half acre of land and I do most everything outside.... I love it. DH hates mowing and it's one of my favorite things. I think it's because I so seldom have any quiet time, it's like a little vacation for me for a couple of hours haha. I also have a few good sized flower beds that I love to mess around in. Pulling weeds and dead-heading flowers is therapeutic for me. And while I do all that, DH washes dishes (which I hate) and cooks meals :)

I do pretty much no work that involves being sweaty or getting my hands dirty. :) my husband really enjoys gardening and kind putzes around with tomatoes and cucumbers and some silly other things. He and our almost-11 year old mow the yard.

We love doing yard work, but at this townhouse were at now, its done by the groundskeeper. We miss doing it, and its never done good enough for us!

Ah - I love yardwork! DH hates it - so it works out okay.. although he usually has more free time than me.. :giggle: This year he's been really good about helping, though.. He's starting to understand that working together and having a nice-looking yard is better than me not keeping up on my own and having a less-than-nice-looking yard.. :giggle: For instance, we have two huge flower beds in front right up next to the house. Last year he didn't want to spend any money on flowers for them, so I didn't bother weeding them as much as I should have.. Fast forward to this year and it looks horrible, so I convinced him we should just spend the cash on some pretty perennials ONCE and have it look nice for years to come, then we can add a bit here and there as we (I) like without having to shell out a ton every year for it.. So, that's what I did today - yay! :D We also have a strip of dirt on the other side of the driveway that we failed at seeding last year (the previous owner just let it be weeds and dirt and gross) so DH has made it his mission to conquer that this year - that was his project today - yay! :D We also have a vegetable garden that I do canning with, some small herbs in a pretty planter, and I hoping to get some strawberries put in, too.. Last year was the first year we really had a yard to deal with, and I'm continually surprised at how much I love working in it.. (which is why the house is such a mess right now, lol..)

I loathe yard work...and unfortunately my husband hates it too, so I hire it out. It's nothing fancy, but they keep it trimmed and nice.

That's probably how he feels about your scrapbooking. :giggle
