I know it is my own fault, 7 kids times anything is alot...but
yesterday I shelled out $9 each for end of the year field trips (well only 6 kids). Do your public schools have a lot of extra you pay for things?

Not a huge amount this time of year. I had to get snacks for Ella to take to school as they are doing their testing right now, so I provided snacks for her class for one of the days. The grades my kiddos are in don't go on field trips in our district (weird!) so no funds for that. Throughout the year, Christmas gifts and party money are in there. And in our one kindergartner's class parents send snacks once a month. Other than that, nothing much.

I'm working on teacher gifts right now so that will cost me some, but that's my own decision. :)

$9 is nothing. Our fees are ridiculous for this and that and whatever all and plus all the stuff we have to send in like dry erase markers and such.

Mine are in preschool, so... no clue. lol We're delaying Dagmar's school start so I have until September of next year to start worrying about it.

My kindergartner has been on so many field trips this year.... and it does add up, especially when I chaperone and have to pay. My 5th grader has only been on a couple of field trips, but one was $20+ because they were traveling up to DC. Aside from that, we get hit up for fundraiser stuff a few times a year and have the list of things we have to get at the start of the school year, but not much else other than things I choose to spend on (gifts for the teachers, etc).

Well, Anne, let me tell you that I have only 2 kids, and only one of them is going out on a (2day though) trip. It's gonna cost me 120 Swiss francs, they go about 1 to 1 with the dollar, so go figure.

Fortunately, our field trips are included in tuition. Our requests for donations/providing stuff is usually at the beginning of the year, so that is behind us for the moment!

Most of our field trips are included in our tuition too, but I did have to write a check for $24 for one kid because they were driving to Lansing (our state capital) and that was to help pay for gas. My husband drove, so he got that money back. Then the younger one is going to museum next month and since I'm driving and attending I had to pay for my own ticket for $11. Otherwise I usually don't have to pay anything. BUT! They do go on a TON of field trips! Like once a month for each kid! Since it's a parochial school, we don't have a bus, so the parents have to drive. I try to limit my chaperoning to twice a year and only for the ones that they need drivers. About half of the trips are in town that the kids can walk to thankfully!

the junior school have a school fund that you pay £1 into each week so when trips come they are covered but the senior school i have to find it as and when and sometimes it comes when i really dont need it too lol

term 1 seems to be the worst term for primary school, seems like every week I was sending money in for one thing or another.

Once they hit high school, we just get a bill at the end of the term, I much prefer it this way.

I just paid $120 for an overnight orchestra trip to Kansas City (3 hr tour bus ride each way) - stay at Great Wolf Lodge (nice indoor waterpark included) - they perform at Worlds of Fun and then stay to have fun there (large amusement park). Now this was optional and the district would have helped anyone that is on free or reduced lunch. They kids will have a blast and tons of memories.

Lots of field trips with fees, and since he has autism, I have to go on each trip too. I have to send in special supplies since my son has issues writing (he uses grips etc) but the group used, everyday supplies dwindle down fast and only few parents replace them mid year. Kleenex goes so fast as well! We also have to supply the parties with food (which it seems none of the other parents will do!) My son is not in sports, but the school now has pay-to-play so that has to be expensive!
