Pad Patter 4/21 - Online Friends

A few years back, I was on another site's Admin team. There were 4 of us that got together in Austin for the weekend at a hotel and we had a great time! We did alot of working together and sorting things out and enjoyed some time checking out the sites around town. Truly a memorable weekend.

I have met lots of them! I've gone to a couple of get togethers organized by Scrapbook Bytes in Pennsylvania and Chicago and I went to CHA a few times. Got to meet some of my favorite people and designers, too! Some of my digi friends have been visiting New York and I've popped over to meet them there. And I went to St. Louis for a weekend with some of my really good digi friends.

Two of my digi friends who live here in Jersey have become IRL friends. We get together to scrap or hang out. I've met their families and have made other friends through them. They are awesome and I am so happy to have met them through this hobby!

I have to add - my family thinks I'm insane!!! My sister calls my digi peeps my "imaginary" friends. My mom has met several and can confirm that they are real. :)

I'm in a group of 33 on-line digiscrapping/camera lovin' ladies. 12 of us got together in Colorado in March, some meeting for the very first time in person.

It was absolutely awesome! We've started thinking about the next one!

I've met several online friends, both digi and mommy in origin :) One has become a very good friend actually!

When I first started digiscrapping...years ago, Andrea was coming to San Diego for a family vacation and I met up with her and several other ladies for lunch by the beach. I met up with Karah in a parking lot at Costco for a brief exchange (I picked a Wii up for her). Lizzy (FizzyPop) and I have met up several times...in Long Beach, Colorado, Vegas. I've done the Digiscrapalooza two years now in Vegas. A lot of the gals I've been in forums with over there years have been there, and we've had a lot of fun. Some of these forums are more like personal friend forums too...not so much CT forums. We've shared a lot over the years. Some are new friends too...ones you've seen but haven't gotten to really know. My family thinks it's quite strange and they like to make fun of me for meeting up with people I've met online...but it's really different. They have people they've played video games with though and have met in real life now too...so they understand. They just like to tease me!!

I met some from an online writing group I was involved with. They put together a writing workshop in Canada, so I went up for that. One guy came all the way from Australia. It was great to meet them.

I also met a guy online (in a book group) and we dated for a bit. He lived in Pennsylvania, but would fly over to see me. He wanted me to move cross country and get married, but I was not quite ready for that at the time.

I haven't met any digiscrap peeps yet... but I'm holding out for Brynn, since she used to live down the road from me. :D

I met the first guy I ever dated in 1988 or so on a BBS I was the SysOp for. We only went out a few times but we were really good friends for a long time.

I met a few online friends in my paper scrapping days. One of which became a really good friend and we're still in touch 10 years later.

I met my husband online.

I met a really awesome friend that I met in a chat room and my family even stayed with him for a month while we were looking for a house when we lived Washington.

And as a lot of you know I got to meet Heather IRL at the end of last month.

LOL I guess I've had a long history of meeting people IRL I met online and I've never had a bad experience.

One of my online Mom board friends ended up moving here for a few years and it was great. I have also met some designers and Digi girls including Jeanye (neenee) on the Riverwalk for lunch.

Nope most of my digi friends are from the states so they are too far away :( I do however know Renee in real life, we went to high school together and our kids attend the same school <3

Sounds like I'm in the minority... I've never met any of the people I chat with in real life... yet. :)

I've met several people from a mommy board that started when I was pregnant with DS (he's 13 now). DS and I even vacationed with one of them one year while DH was off at a magic convention. :giggle

I also met a few area digiscrappers/designers at a crop, but I haven't kept in touch with any of them.

The only digi friend I've met in real life is Peppermint Granberg, or One Little Bird Designs. She and her husband (then fiancee) came to visit us for a few days in July 2009. We went to Comic Con, Legoland, Hotel Del Coronado, the beach, etc. And she got her first taste of In N Out Burger.

Then in October 2010 we went to Wisconsin for her wedding and to get the grand tour of Wisconsin and also Minnesota and the Mall of America!

A few! I went to a couple of digi scrapping convention here in Utah a few years ago, and went to Digiscrapapalooza in Vegas last month. I've also been to a couple small get together locally with some online digi friends. I'm actually planning a fun digi scrapping event here in Utah coming soon, so Utah peeps be on the lookout!

Yes'm. I met my husband (and my ex) from online dating sites. I've been to a couple organized digi meetups as well as the convention Robin mentioned (hi Robin!) where she and I met briefly. I've spent a long weekend in DC with some scrap friends, Fourth of July in MI with a scrap friend, 2 weeks in WA with a scrap friend and her daughter, and am planning on meeting up with some digi friends from another site in Chicago in August. A digi scrapper took my wedding photos. That's not to mention all the informal meetups over the years.

Yeah, I'm kind of a digi playah. :whistle

i've been to CHA a number of times and have met a bunch there as well as on a few at other weekend get-aways.
