Holy Smokes... it has been raining around here ALL WEEK and is supposed to rain all through the weekend as well (canceling ballgames and ruining a Sunday lunch plan. Poo). Talk about your April Showers!

Our pool was actually at risk of overflowing one day, requiring draining... and we need to do it again today.

The good news: it has cooled the temperatures down and it is really lovely sitting on my porch with the cooler weather and pitter patter noises.
It has also washed the pollen away. BONUS.

The bad news: my kids have cabin fever, LOL. How much Netflix can a mother let them watch?

Oh, and the internet is terribly sketchy when it storms, plus with all of us on the wifi, it's running on dial up speeds. PAINFUL.

How's the weather where you are? Do you have special rainy day activities? Do your "rules" change regarding technology on rainy days?

Also, do you suffer from slow internet speeds? Is it affected by weather? I live in the boondocks and need someone to tell me I'm not the only one :giggle

Inquiring mind...

April started like that...about 2 weeks of rain. Good news is that it's supposed to be pretty sunny and warm from here on out!!! Yay!! Spring came early this year! Usually we are still under about a foot or 2 of snow.
We don't really have anything special to do on rainy days...we may waiver a bit on the electronics use, but not much. So a lot of time will be spent reading or doing crafts.
Our internet speeds don't really get affected by the weather here...unless the wind knocks out the power.

We've had a lot of rain here too, Jen! Currently raining today and tomorrow too. Rugby for tomorrow will be the second rain out in a row. When it's soggy like this, they don't want to risk tearing up the fields.
All the moisture in the ground is also driving all the ants up out of the ground and into the house. I'll be sitting at my computer in the kitchen and one will crawl right up my arm, ick!

Oh, the ants! They have been terrible in my kitchen. Little non-harmful sugar ants, but dreadfully annoying. I actually just have the exterminators out here this week to help me deal with them. All of the "natural" cures from Pinterest were not working :giggle

Sugar ants, I didn't know that was what they're called. They are teeny tiny little guys and kind of red in color. They don't bite or anything, I just hate the crawling sensation. My son-in-law keeps saying if he knew where they were getting in, he'd treat that spot, but I told him as tiny as they are, it could be anywhere. I'm going to spray around my desk today!

Sorry to hijack the rain thread with more ant story, but there is a great product that helps with those annoying little ants. It is called Terro and comes in an orange packaging. They have some little plastic packets that have a syrup sort of thing in them (for inside) and they have particles you can sprinkle outside. Gets rid of them in a day or two. We had a really hard time a couple of years back, and my brother told me about Terro and that has been the *only* thing that worked for us when even the exterminators couldn't do it. I was threatening to move out of the house because they were so bad a few years ago. Now we get them every once in awhile, but we put Terro out and they are gone.

We've had rainy days but nothing too heavy. Today is just gorgeous out and will be high in the 70s. Yay! Love the weather now. When it rains though we just stay indoors watching movies or the kids will play together or on their ipods. The internet here is pretty steady so the wifi is always good. I love htat on days like this hte kids can go outside and actually play without freezing!

I traveled to Ohio last week for work, so while finally the weather started to warm in Montreal, It rained every single day in Ohio.. Take me home.

BTW its called Rain Fade and is an actual real phenomena affecting internet satellite connections. So even if you might connect to your provider via cable, your provider may be using communication satellites.....

I don't know much about ants though....

I just thought it was b/c more of us were on it when we couldn't go outside. Good to know there may be another reason. It's the ONLY thing I don't like about where I live. Too far from all of the towers, etc...

Yes, Kimberlee, we've used Terro before too and I forgot about it, thanks for the reminder!

Six years ago, we moved from an area that got about 300 days of rain a year. It sucked. Now we get about 300 days of sun a year, so we're not so upset when it rains. We're moving out of the rain season now, and by end of April I'll be surprised if we see any rain at all until October or November.

Well... it is spring soccer season, so that usually means that it rains at least on soccer days. LOL! Actually though, having said that, our first two Saturday games were sunny and beautifully warm. Totally unusual for us, but I'm loving it. It did rain yesterday, but nothing heavy, which is good because my windshield wipers are not working right now. The motor is dying and they will get stuck if the windshield isn't completely wet and then I can't see! That happened to me on the way home last night from our church movie night and it was rather scary. That's on today to-do list... get new motor and see if hubby and i can install it!

i always thought the same thing as you jen, and yes we notice it here too. so interesting.

we actually had the best day of the season so far on Sat. it was gorgeous, sunny and in the mid 70s such a treat! we hiked for hours and then had a Regatta on sunday followed by a soccer game later on. best weekend weather wise to date. BUT ... all that yuck and rain has moved in today and it is cold, windy and starting to rain... the week looks gross. i'm ok with that. i'd rather it be nice on our weekends!

Last week was dreadful. The kids have been very stir crazy. We had flooding in our area over the weekend, but were very fortunate to be high enough that we were not affected. Our pool was so close to overflowing on Saturday that it was scary.
It's gorgeous here today with very mild temps and the beautiful sun is shining.

Rain moved in last night... and wind too! Ugh! Going to get it today, and tomorrow... and so long to the wonderful temps we had this weekend! BOO! After hot days and oodles of sun, I like the occasional rainy day... but not when we haven't really had much of a spring, and it's been so cold this year! I want more sunshine!

I don't notice a difference with my internet... but then again, when it bothers me, I make DH do something. What he does, I have no clue... but I bother him, since he works for Verizon. lol!

It's been cold, wet and windy here for the past week. Not fun when kids are on break from school. But it's autumn here and we did need some rain.

I hate to say this...but we could do with some rain lol! It's been unseasonably dry here with no sign of any April showers. I am a keen gardener and have had to think about watering. Having said that, I do NOT want the kind of persistent rain you guys are getting

I hear you-
I dont mind the rain for a couple of days in Brazil- it doesn't bother me that much in England now as I rarely go anywhere anymore...but do not like rain that goes on longer than a couple of days....
