May your pockets be heavy and your heart be light,
May good luck pursue you each morning and night.

Today’s topic is Prom/Dances/Formals since it’s that time of year for the yearly parade of dresses and tuxedos….let’s dish about your or your kidsProm and/or Spring Formal.
I had my PROM a very long time ago! I had a floral dress with spaghetti straps and ruffles (nothing like you see today, I’m sure) and the music playing was Lost In Love by Air Supply. And I do believe that my mother still has my prom dress stored somewhere at her house. Oh, the horror! And my date for my senior prom was some creep that I ended up marrying and is now my ex-husband. Boy, a lot has changed since then!
I went to three proms in high school. My first year, I wore this horrid white thing with puffy sleeves that now I see looked just like a bad wedding dress. The next year, I wore this deep purple bridesmaid dress. It was alright, but totally boring. Bleh. My senior year was by far the best year...Dark blue shimmery material that changed colors in the light with a ruched and sequined top that came out in an a-line from under the bust (can you tell I loved that dress LOL). A lot of Destiny's Child was playing...and Chumbawumba.
The guy was great. Went with the same guy all three years and am still married to him He's kinda awesome. And cute.
I went to a pretty small high school and we had three big dances. Two Proms and one 'Ring Dance'. I went to my Jr. Prom and Ring Dance with my long time high school boyfriend. For my Jr. year prom I wore a very shiny and glittery short satin dark purple thing with matching dyed purse and pumps of course. hahaha I wore a short black fitted velvet dress embellished with red satin to the ring dance. I am probably dating myself but the song theme for one of these dances was Whitney Houston's 'One Moment in Time'.
My boyfriend and I broke up a few months before our Sr. Prom and he started dating one of my good friends. It was so hard for me that I couldn't bring myself to go to my Sr. Prom, even though I was asked. I just skipped it altogether. It completely worked out for the best though at the time I thought it was the end of the world.
I only went to my senior prom. I really loved my dress - my mom and I picked out the fabrics and had had someone make it. It was floral on top with a long strait skirt - sounds weird but it was pretty! And I had these cool platform sandals - which I still have! LOL!
I had recently broken up with a really abusive boyfriend - who didn't want to go to any of the other proms. So my friends told me to take a friend who was a junior so that all the friends in our group would be there. A bunch of use chipped in for a big limo - and I was really ****ed because we had to wait a long time for one of the other girls!
I remember dancing a lot - even though at first I didn't want to - and also that this one girl who was the big queen nerd of our school had brought a date from the another school and spent the whole night sucking face on the dance floor! LOL!!! After the prom, our limo took us to NYC where we went to the Limelight - and I saw some pretty shocking things! Most of my friends had been sneaking into clubs for years, but I'd never been. And then we went to Washington Square Park and took pictures by the arch - until a cop told us we couldn't be there because it was really late - but they took pictures with us anyway! I think I got home at 4 or 5 a.m. because I was the last one dropped off.
We also had a little scandal! LOL! During the prom, all of the limos got searched. We had brought along some sparkling cider that we had used in project about France. We had written the word wine on piece of paper and wrapped that around the bottle. Well, the driver thought it was real alcohol and lectured us about how he could have lost his job. He had a fit - which was insane because it was very obviously fake!
i was one of those...... I'm too cool for this stuff kids. I remember for my senior prom (we had it at a country club) i spent the entire prom out on the balcony with a guy (not my date) smoking and chatting. My poor boyfriend. I broke up with him the next morning after staying up all night with balcony boy sitting in the front lawn of my friends house snuggled up and talking until the sun came up (yes. talking). I was not nice to that poor guy.
I do remember my dress for senior prom.. and do not know what i was thinking it was a halter.. dark dark purple crushed velvet spandex cross breed of some sort .. and glitter. glitter everywhere. wtf.
I didnt go to my prom. I wasnt really into it at all. IDK Got asked by 2 boys and I gave some kind of lame excuse that i couldnt go(me bad) I Just didnt feel like going...wierd i know..lol
I wore a God awful greeny flowy shortish dress and I had 2 dates! Yes I went to prom with two guys... talk about reputation building! LOL truth is: one of the boys was my boyfriend (hot and hunky swimmer from another school) and one was my best friend - whose girlfriend (and date for the night) was diagnosed with mono the day of the dance.... so... instead of him losing out on all $$$ he'd shelled out he came with us. Even with an ugly dress on, I had a BLAST!
I barely remember prom. My BF at the time broke up with me about about a week after prom and it explainded how weird he was acting that night. I was kind of p*ssed that he didn't break up with me before that because he was a year younger, so I was actually taking him to my prom and I paid for everything. He said he didn't want to ruin my prom... blah, blah, blah. Looking back I'm glad it worked out that way so I did at least get to go and we hung out with some of my other couple friends and had a pretty good time. Seems SO long ago now.
No prom for me, WAY WAY too shy for any of that foolishness in high school.
My daughter went to hers with friends (said she didn't want to go with either of the boys that asked her because she didn't like them THAT way) and had a great time. We found her the most perfect dress ever. I'll try to find a photo and post it here because it was just that pretty!
No prom for me. No guy ever asked me, and I didn't want to be set up on a pity date with some random guy from another school. I wasn't sad to miss spending all that money or being able to get all dressed up, but I was sad that no boy liked me enough to want to ask me to go.
My junior year a bunch of my GFs and I had a MORP party and got dressed up and spent 3+ hours eating fondue at some hole in the wall restaurant. My senior year a friend of mine and I went to a movie and Putt-Putt afterwards.
I've always been tempted to go to one of those adult proms they have every year around here, but I'm not sure I could talk hubby or any of our friends into going with me!
