Pad Patter: 2/3 Braces???

I didn't but my brother did.

My son had them and got them off just before his 15th birthday, so two year ago. He had the speed braces which were smaller and supposed to cut the time from 36 months to 30 months. . . .he had them for 38. I often tease him they were the down payment on my Mustang or a nice vacation.

It was the best money I ever spent, to see him smile and his confidence increase is beyond words. He started smiling when he got the braces on and it was wonderful.

Nope. I never had them and I really wanted them. Isn't that dumb? I'm sure my parents were happy I didn't need them! :)

I have them right now! Not sure if it will be worth it in the end - they are a pain when eating and I'm having more jaw issues than ever - physio and everything :( Probably would have be quicker and less painful if i had them when I was a kid.

nah, my parents never bothered, it was the 60's South America and I'm not sure it was as it is these days? I hate my teeth.....
Sarita has them , probably until end of March...

I never needed them as a kid, then my wisdom teeth messed everything up and by then I lived on my own and had no insurance. I might consider them one day, but they are way down the list of things I'd spend money on if I had more of it. It's just cosmetic.

I did, and I am so happy that my parents spent that $$ on my mouth. My teeth are very straight now and haven't moved at all since I had them. They were pretty common when i was in school so it wasn't a big deal socially. I had them for just over a year. I have always said that if my kids need them we will find the way to pay for them.

Got them when I was in 8th grade, got the top ones off the day before Senior Year started, then got the bottom teeth braces removed just before I started College.
My son has braces now, and he should get them off in September. He's had them for about 17 months (it should be 25 total). My daughter who is 12 will get them soon, and my daughter who is 10 will have them put on in about 3 years.

I told the orthodontist that I purposely had my kids four years apart for two reasons. I would not be paying for two sets of braces or two university educations at the same time.....

The happiest day of my childhood when the orthodontist said it would do more harm than good to have braces - I have slightly buck teeth, nothing obvious but I didn't have to have four teeth removed that I would have if I got braces.

My eldest brother had them in the early 70's - he always thought Lisa's braces reminded him of the version he had -

My eldest two don't have braces, not sure if the youngest one will need them or not...

I had them and my oldest son (11) has had them for a year...he has another year to go. I definitely needed them and so did he. My teeth have moved a bit (more on the bottom) since then but nothing too bad.

I never did....mostly straight slight overbite. Nothing serious. My daughter had braces. She made the dental books. SEVERE overbite and SEVERE underbite. Started braces in 6th grade - supposed to be on for 4-5 years. She got them off the summer of her freshman year. She did everything the ortho told her - head gear, bands, etc. AND it worked!

I have them now! :yup Got them last March so sometime late this Summer (July-August) I'll get them off. 2 Orthodontists said I needed them and 1 said it wasn't necessary. My dad went with the one that said wasn't necessary. Wish I did have them though, wouldn't be dealing with them now, but I know it'll be worth it in the end!

I was one of the lucky ones who got away with pretty straight teeth and no braces. My kids on the other hand will probably all need them! My 7 year old already has a palette expander and will definitely need them after he gets all of his adult teeth.

I had them on my upper teeth. Pry for about 2 to 2.5 years in high school.

Kids are getting them so early nowadays. We will look into it this year for our oldest (10yo). I wasn't ready to do anything at 8 years old. Your teeth still move and it wasn't totally necessary.

Bianca needs them and it breaks my heart that her teeth are coming out at such weird angles.

I got them when I was 14 and got them off a few days before my high school Senior photos. I cried so hard when I got them. The orthodontist gave me a list of what I could not eat and it looked like I'd be eating noodles for the rest of my life.

Aida hasn't started losing her baby teeth but I am hoping she won't need them.

Our son wore them - and still has a retainer in his mouth - he's had it since he was in 8th grade (he's 30 years old now!). Isn't that crazy? (It's permanent - however; he broke a wire on it a few months ago.
